So I just got these drill bits and while I haven't had them long enough to really test their longevity, I am pretty impressed with what I see so far.The spiral groove design seems to work well for clearing out material while drilling. The titanium coating looks good and should help with durability, but only time will tell on that.For the price point, the quality feels decent. The hex shank is nice because they won't slip in the chuck, and the step sizes are clearly marked which makes them easy to use.I like that you get three different bits with varying step sizes. Makes it really versatile for different projects without having to buy multiple individual bits.Still, at this price point, I am a bit skeptical about long term durability. But even if they only last through a few projects, they're worth the cost. These are not a tool I use very often, so I hope they last for years to come.Overall, I am happy with them for now, but I'll have to update after I've really put them through their paces.

These are very heavy duty and well made. I can see them lasting for a long time. I've used them twice now and see no indications of wear at all.

These aren't the best step bits I've owned but for the price I'm not sure they can be beat. If you're cutting decently thick material you should definitely use a lubricant so you don't burn up the bit.

I ordered a set of step drill bits for $26, and out of curiosity ordered this set for $7 three days later. The two sets look nearly identical, except the pricier set has "Boyouys" engraved on the shanks, and they came in separate containers with blue bases. In my posted photos, you can distinguish between the two by either the blue bases beside the $26 set, or the Boyous engraving on their shanks.The bits weigh about the same -- with the largest bits from both sets weighing in at 61.2 grams. The casting and finish look identical. The pricey set claims a special TiAIN coating and the body made of "M2 Cobalt Superhard High Speed Steel," while this set only claims high speed steel with a titanium nitride coating. I tested the bits on 1/16" copper plate (soft copper is admittedly not a great challenge for metal drill bits). Both sets of bits performed identically.The $26 bits claim a 135-degree split point tip: it measured 113 degrees under an inspection microscope. These inexpensive bits claim 118-degree split point tips, but measured 105 degrees under the inspection microscope.Overall, these step drill bits performed just as well as bits that are more than three times their price. This set of step drill bits is an extraordinary value.

This 3-piece step drill bit set was a lifesaver for me when I was regripping an almost new 48 degree Vokey wedge I recently acquired. When I cut the old grip off, I realized that the graphite had a plastic extension glued to the end. I tried the heat gun, but the glue melted and the extension sort of broke off. The only way to remove it was to drill it out. I used the thickest bit and slowly started drilling. Although the progress was slow, I could see it was drilling out the plastic extension. After 10 to 15 minutes of diligence, I was successful in removing the last remnants of the extension. It truly saved the day! I was very grateful that I had these in my toolbox.

I find the step drills work great on thin materials but this is my first set that have a spiral groove. The groove works to clear the chips and provide the cutting edge so I'll see if the spiral makes for a smoother cut over the traditional straight cut.These units look nice and are a bit smaller sizes than my other triple sets. Unfortunately they came packed together where they can knock into and dull each other. I would have preferred a separator of some sort to keep them apart.

Works ok for drilling holes on thin metal. Seems to dull when using on material 1/4" or thicker.
