This is truly plug and play. I plugged it in, attached the source SSD and the destination SSD (both M.2), and it worked perfectly. Its what I needed for upgrading to a larger SSD.

I liked how quickly and easily this unit copied everything from my laptop's m.2 driver to a larger replacement drive.

This worked great in a project where we needed to upgrade 20 computers. Saved us days upon days.

Used this to copy an OS drive from an older computer to a new, larger, SSD drive to be used for a new build. I've used StarTech's drive copier for HDDs and the copy process is the same (if not a little obtuse to start). Once copied I installed the new drive and then expanded the partition to the size of the new drive. Much easier than trying to copy it from within Windows.

This was fast and easy but I did have issues with multiple files upon reinstalling new SSD. I cloned two drives in total (4TB -> 8TB && 2TB -> 4TB) and both had issues with multiple files when reinstalled. Fixing was fairly simple. But it is not quite as elegant as I expected for the price, if you use your own Software with this it might be better.

This review is for the StarTech.com 1:1 M.2 NVMe Drive Duplicator. As with most StarTech products this comes at a premium cost, but also with most StarTech products it performs reliably. The unit feels somewhat cheap because it is so light, and the Mode selector and Power switch buttons appear unresponsive, but if you read the instructions (oops) and hold down the buttons they work just fine. I duplicated a (system drive) 970 EVO Plus Gen3 M.2 to a 990 EVO Plus Gen4 M.2 in well under an hour and am online using the 990 to write this review.

I purchased this to swap my OS from my Lexar 1tb gen4 m.2 I use as my OS to a Crucial T705 2tb gen5 m.2. I plugged it in and installed the drives in the right place. I held down the start button and all it did was blink and then nothing. So if you have a Gen5 m.2, don't waste your money on this.

I tried a lots of NVMe Drive Duplicator, they could only work on the 2280 consumer or part of enterprise model NVMe SSD. only this one can work on mainstream 22110 enterprise model NVMe SSD.

This unit doesn't work with M.2 SATA drives, which is a shame since one of the main reasons to use one of these is to upgrade. Returned and bought a different unit which supports M.2 SATA and NVME for cheaper.
