  • Designed for Precision - The Starrett 380 Series Steel Straight Edge is precision ground and nicely finished to rigid Starrett standards. It provides users with accurate and consistent results.
  • Not Beveled or Graduated - This tool does not have a mark of units for measurements and a slope on its edges. It is unexcelled for drawing or scribing straight lines and checking surfaces for straightness.
  • Easy to Use - The Starrett Steel Straight Edge thickness and design permit shape retention and accuracy. This tool is portable, easy to use and easy to handle.
  • Best Performance - The 380 and 385 Series in sizes 36" and longer are marked with arrows at two suspension points. If the straight edges are brought to the work and used on edge, they should be suspended at these two points to minimize deflection.
  • The Standard for Excellence - Proudly made in the USA, Starrett combines over 140 years of American heritage and innovation with globally sourced materials to deliver exceptional quality tools and products.

I purchased this thinking it was for use with a Starrett combination square. I thought it was a three foot ruler. I specifically typed that into my search, and this was the result. The photo in the description is absolute garbage. This is nothing more than a very accurate level for cylinder heads.

I had to return the first one as there was too much variation on non measuring flat side. There will be some as it is cold roll and not cast iron, but the precision ground measuring surface didn't even show flashlight penetration against the 2 before first returned. Over the 36".

La regla tiene filos muy "vivos", es necesario removerlos para evitar que te corte las manos. Por la precisión y el costo esperaba que viniera en un estuche rígido, pero no es así, viene en un caja muy delgada de cartón.

Got the straight edge and it was bent right out of the box.

Perfect, exactly what I was looking for. Great for checking trueness and straightness of 3 foot surfaces.

Precision ground steal bar with (word removed) near perfect straightness. It is long enough to measure completely across every inline six cylinder head and block I have used it on. It is a little long for four cylinder length heads but that's why you can buy the shorter ones. It shares one draw back all precision measuring tools have though. Accuracy may very after being dropped.

I gave this 5 stars because it is a Starrett and all their tools are great. The straight Edge was damaged in shipment like so many others I read about. UPS is not at all careful in how they ship heavy objects. Starrett should ship these in a case. The cardboard box is not enough to protect the tool in shipment. I have damage to one corner where the box was crushed completely in.Good tool. Bad Packaging and careless shipping.

This is supposed to be a "precision" measuring instrument. Yet its packaged from Starrett as if its a pack of bubble gum. I had to return the first one I received because it was dropped at some point and one corner was bent. This is very likely due to Starrett's packaging. The 380-36 was wrapped like a pack of gum with an inside paper wrapper and an equally form fitting outside cardboard box. No padding, no foam, nothing. Not even an outside marking for "Handle with care".If they are not going to treat their products any better then a pack of gum, I can't rate it any higher.BTW my C33H-12-4R arrived placed in a plastic bag inside a loose fitting box.

I purchased this tool to check the flatness of a 12" jointer I was going to buy on craigslist. I'm super glad I did, as the fence to the jointer was significanly warped. That lowered the price I paid, which more than paid for the straight edge itself. Great tool for checking those cast iron castings. A little expensive resulted in a 4 star rating.

Once again Starrett shows why they have no equal! The 36 inch steel straight edge we bought is dead straight, exceeding even Starrett's own statement of accuracy. There may be cheaper alternatives but in my experience buying once well is far superior to buying based upon price alone! It also doesn't hurt that this is an American product made by American workers!

I was suprised when the package arrived, the box felt like it had lead in it. But when I opened it, it was thestraight edge that weighed so much. this thing is heavy and it came well packed. wraped in some kind of papersoaked in thin oil. I had been using my powermatic model 64A tablesaw for 10 years and thought it was set upstraight and coplaner. When I checked it with my new straight edge the right extension wing was drooped downat the outside about .012" I loosened the bolts on the wing and shimmed below the bolts and brought it intoalignment. Then the table board had to be brought up to the extension wing. when I set my saw up I used a fourfoot level, I can't believe the level was off that bad. I also used the starret to correct the fence on myshaper, you would not believe the difference it made.Bottom line if you are having trouble getting true cuts from your tablesaw, shaper, or jointer then I suggestyou break down and buy the best straight edge on the market, you will not be sorry. My only regret is that Idid not break down a long time ago.
