The onley problem was that the oil that shipped with the unit was crushed in transit and leaked all over the box.

Got this for pothole repair tamping bagged asphalt mix and it works great for that purpose. If you're working on a slope, stand on downhill side of slope when using and it will be easy to use I found out and spray some WD-40 on plate before using for asphalt. A nice little machine and a great value in my opinion. I have used bigger and heavier machines but at 77 I like this size better and the wheels make it easy to move around.

Machine itself is great and it does its job really well. The shipping is the main issue.It’s not packaged well. The box came DESTROYED. They expect one layer of cardboard and styrofoam to protect something of this size and weight and it’s unrealistic. The bottle of oil it came with was crushed in transit with the rest of the box and air filter and leaked everywhere. I had to improvise to be able to use the machine.Finally, since the box was destroyed and covered in oil, it arrived multiple weeks late

Came in one box, just pulled it out, added oil in both locations, gas, and started right upGood compaction and moves by itself. Just have to turn it.Only trick is finding a mat to protect tiles, when the time comes. Will have to buy one and cut it to shape

This compactor works great. It packs very well and is easy to maneuver around your area. It walks on its own and you just guide where you want it to go. Flip down wheels make it easy to move and it's not really big so it's easy to store. So glad I bought this!

The item arrived quickly from Amazon. The assembly appears to be basic and simple...but there were spare parts. Most items that require assembly also include instructions on completing this step. We looked through the manual for a 'What's in the Box' sort of directory - no such luck. The missing parts are a mystery. Now to be clear, we are a construction company that specializes in Remodeling and Additions - so while we are not expert wrench turners, we are pretty good at figuring things out. Nonetheless, we were left wondering if we missed something. We called product support three times and emailed them once over a period of two days - during their published business hours. In addition to the one email, I left voicemails twice. To date, we have not received a return phone or an email.I contacted Amazon. We rec'd excellent customer service from the person who helped us - they provided a full credit/refund! Thank you Amazon.In spite of Amazon's amazing customer service, I would avoid purchasing this plate compactor - or any item offered by Stark Tools USA. Sad....very sad.

Ok, ya pretty much have to assemble everything, even the engine came in a box by itself, the directions were hard to see and read like it eS a photocopy that was running out of ink.Got the whole thing together and it was missing a bolt to attach the throttle mechanism to the bar,, NO, I did not lose it, it was NOT included.. fortunately I had one the fit perfectly..Had I known it came completely disassembled I wouldn't have purchased it, anyways after much frustration assembling, then adding the fluids, it did bring a smile to my face and a HELL YEAH when it fired up an held a steady idle on the very first pull.. now I love it.. works great, zero issues..Putting it together sucked Donkey..

arrives in 2 very heavy boxes and marginal instructions but got it together. You must add 10W30 oil to both the motor and the vibrator. Boxes came damaged due to the weight and the plate box was soaked in oil but no leaks when I started it up. The motor is very easy to pull start, first pull every time. Hard to believe it is actually 6.5 hp but it runs great and is saving me a ton of money on rental.UPDATE 1 Year - lightly used but starts very easily and dependable. Only repair has been to reinstall some guard bolts that vibrated loose. Very handy to have a small compactor available all the time.
