Our mail delivery has been so inconsistent for over a year. When it does come, (2-4 times a week) it is usually at odd times; sometimes during the night or even on Sundays. This doesn’t solve what’s wrong with the USPS, but it certainly let’s me know if mail has come so that I don’t have to go out & check 5 times a day. It works just like it says. I did get some stainless 5M X 20M screws & acorn nuts & washers. Because my door was slightly recessed I used one of the spacers for my configuration. I used one of the included plastic washers & one SS washer that I purchased. I am a 70 yr old woman & it was very easy to install. Be sure to press acorn nuts into the plastic well and hold them there while you insert screws & tighten them from inside the mailbox door. As far as sturdiness & durability, time will tell.

I bought this for my elderly mother and she just loves this. The ball drops out of its holder when the mail person opens the mailbox. My mother can see the ball hanging from about 100’ away. The ball stays in its holder on windy days. I bought this ball and chain as a replacement for another type of notification gadget with a pop-up flag that didn’t work very well.

I have a large brick mailbox and the left side of my mailbox isn't visible from my front window. I had to flip the arm backwards and upside down in order to make things work, and had to cut off the "on vacation" lock tab in order for the ball to drop reliably when the door is opened because of the reverse mounting situation.Also, the instructions flyer is printed in super-tiny font, so I had to use a magnifying glass to read them!Finally, to add the cherry on the top, the email given on the instructions for support comes back as undeliverable (yes, I made double-dog sure it was correct).Such a great idea for a product, but such poor execution with no thought at all to offering both a left-hand and right-hand version.

Easy enough to install (need a drill for the mailbox), works well, and very inexpensive. How long will it last???
