I thought for $12, these were going to be the usual cheap plastic brackets, but I was wrong. They are very well made aluminum brackets and look good. The hook & loop fasteners are durable as well. The clamps are tight. I have 3 external SSD drives and I needed brackets to keep them off the top of my PC, because these drives get hot and the heat from the PC is not a good addition. The brackets allow the drives to "breath" and keep cool and not get knocked around.

This was very easy to install to the top of my laptop and it holds my external drive very solidly!

I got a Samsung t7 shield SSD to use with my macbook and realized shortly after that it would be a real pain to deal with unless i had some way to keep it stuck to the back of my laptop (probably like everyone else, i've learned from experience that it's NEVER a good idea to leave things dangling from my laptop).Anyways, this is actually the ONLY device i could find that seemed suitable. If you have the T7 shield ssd, it seems like it's either this mount, or one of those fabric pockets, which imo probably aren't a good idea (might contribute to overheating). If you have a different drive i think there might be less bulky options, but apparently, the rubberized coating on the t7 shield prevents anything from sticking to it (otherwise it would be way more convenient to just stick some velcro directly onto the drive itself). This mount clamps down very tightly on the drive; it may be somewhat difficult to get the drive in and out for those with dexterity/mobility issues, but the actual mount is designed to be easily removable via velcro, so you technically don't NEED to unclamp it once you got it clamped. I really like the fact that you can use this mount with other computers if you just buy some more velcro to stick it to. It's pretty handy and also cheaper than some of the other options.

This holds my SSD securely on the computer case, which works very well as the computer is mounted in a bracket attached to the bottom of my recording desk.

It's solidly made and does exactly what it was advertised to do. I'm using it to hold the backup for my desktop, but its weight may be a bit much attached to a laptop.

The jaws do not open up enough to hold my SanDisk SSD without extreme pressure on the edges of the SSD. That did not seem safe. The adhesive and velcro for attaching the SSD to a laptop was weak, and the stiff cable causes the SSD to tweak sideways from the pressure of the bending cable.

I wound up really liking this device, so much so that I purchased another one. I work from home and have 2 SSD drives that I use with my work laptop. One is for day-to-day use and the other is for backup purposes. For the most part, I had the drives plugged into my port replicator/docking station with the drives laying on the desk. The POWRIG enabled me to move the backup drive from directly on the desk. Having that out of the way was nice so I purchased a second one to move the other drive off the desk. Now that they are both on back of my desktop monitor, they are off the desk and out of the way. Take a look at the attached photo. It does have padding on the sides that hold the drive, so it won't harm the drive. What I plan next would be to get some extra Velcro for the laptop monitor. That way when I need to be away from home, I can just remove the drive from the desktop monitor (POWRIG) and all and then put it on the back of the laptop. That will keep the drive off the table and makes it easy to manage if I need to carry the laptop between conference rooms.I like how it aids organization, keeps the desk clean and is flexible. I highly recommend if you are looking for something to help move your drives off the desk.(Note: the back of my monitor at home doesn't abut against a desk or a wall, so it is easy to access the drives on the back of the monitor. Depending on your setup, it might not work to use behind the monitor.)
