Description said new. Received in a bag with no original packaging, broken pieces missing and the breaker would not reset. Clearly a used product shipped as new.

This breaker was a replacement for a hot water heater breaker.Popped the old breaker out of the box... after shutting off the main power supply. Shutting off the main power supply is a good idea, but if you're careful -- like, really careful -- you could probably get by without doing so. But don't. You're messing with 240v here.Anyway... popped out the old one, unscrewed the wires -- pay attention to which color goes where -- screwed the wires in to the new one, and snapped it in to the box. Turned it on and... no sparks! Yay!If I can do it, you... could. Too. Probably.Because, like, if you buy the breaker but then pay somebody to come in and replace it, you're not really saving any money. So if you're thinking about buying this breaker you probably already have some idea of what you need and what to do... right? It was like half the price here on Amazon than at the local hardware store. Usually I prefer to support local businesses, but at half the price, I'll do the online thing.

Supplied by "Flashlight" --- Delivered on time, shipped promptly, and looks 100% new. I'm sure it will work fine. -- Note that there are really only TWO kinds of SQ D breakers (In "current production" - NO pun zone!): MINI and HOME. So, QP230 is the only important "Square D" designation, nothing else: "230" ==> 2 = 220 VOLT and the 30 = 30 AMPS.-- Two wires connect to the breaker, one is 110v 15A, and the other is identical, but out of phase. There is NO SUCH THING as a "refurbished breaker". IF so, they must be MARKED PLAINLY, and are not the same model #, and still CERTIFIED by Square D. Search online, and you won't want anything to do with a refurbished or used breaker. Remember, if that breaker fails to open if exceeded, the wire inside your WALL is what will burn up instead!CONVERTING a 110v 15 A Dedicated Circuit to a 220v 30 A Dedicated service:Sometimes if lucky as I was, a dedicated 110v circuit was designed to be upgradable, easily, without replacing any wire.I'm replacing ONE 110v 15A breaker on a DEDICATED 110v 15 A circuit, to a 220v 30A circuit, and they left a blank spot above that one 15A NARROW breaker. The circuit is 3 strands each of 10 Gauge wires, installed in 2000, so it has a WHITE cover and MARKED with "10 Ga". By moving the former neutral WHITE wire of the 10 Ga to the new 30 A breaker, this circuit now provides 220v 30A service that is code compliant. [Verify this for code compliance in your area] - >>: NOTE though, that you must MARK / CHANGE the white wire on BOTH the outlet side AND the breaker box side to BLACK to meet code compliance. You must do this when you remove the 110v outlet, cover the WHITE with BLACK, to match the other BLACK wire. Also, ensure that this is a DEDICATED circuit with no other outlets on that circuit.BOTH outlet hot wires are black, because then you will have two equivalent 110v black wires are out of phase with each other, that add up to 220v. You will also have one bare COPPER ground wire that must be connected to the chassis GROUND of whatever your 220v device it. RE-coloring the white wire to black, ensures that anyone else working in that outlet knows that BOTH BLACK wires are hot. (Also, REMOVE 110v the outlet BEFORE you switch the wires around, or you'll fry some 110v device if you activate that circuit.)

I had a 30A breaker on my dryer that was tripping every 10-15 minutes. I have a fairly new dryer so I tried replacing the breaker first. I did the work myself. It was a little hard to snap the new one in because when I put the new one in, two adjacent breakers would pop out. After a couple of tries I got both sides in and the dryer has been working for over a week now.
