It does a good job of cutting the Romex sheath in the box.I was never able to pull the sheath off.... as the blue handles always pulled off the tool.

This romex stripper does fit into single gang boxes which is what I purchased it for. A lot of people complain about the grips pulling off of the handles. If you let the stripper cut the sheathing and pull on the sheathing, it works perfectly. If it's not releasing the sheathing, just give it a little twist so the teeth bite in a little more. Very easy to use. I would buy this tool again if I had to. Strips off the sheathing and doesn't bite into the conductors.

See some good and bad reviews. I find if you make the cut then regrab the sheath further down with the cutters not cutting through and pull off the cover it does an excellent job. Not marking the wires inside. Can reach inside boxes easily now.

Like I see the point and how if you’re forced into a situation this would be nice to strip at the back of the box. However they are poorly made and the hinge joint is wobbly, not very exact with the 12/2 and 14/2 cuts so it’s still a hard pull to remove the sheathing. Takes up a lot of space with the irregular head and doesn’t fit smoothly in a lot of tool pouches etc. really wanted to like this tool but it’s just not it

I am very glad that Southwire came out with these! I used the Klein & Ideal bent-nose Romex strippers for many years, but sadly both manufacturers discontinued them. They are great for being able to get up into a junction box farther to strip sheathing. It's convenient that they put #14 & #12 strippers on the same tool, but I would have been willing to pay for each individually. They are very handy!!

Ok this is a handy stripper. You can get into the box quite deep. Also can strip 14ga and 12ga wire. Also has a bolt cutter. So yes the handle slides off. Uh…a couple of drops of E6000 and that was fixed. Not a huge issue. I’ve had mine for 2 years, cutters are perfectly aligned. I don’t see the handle as a big issue. If you can strip a wire you can glue a handle.

The 12g side seems to strip 14g romex better. I had to glue the handle sleeves on as they would come right off when trying to strip.

I am doing a DIY project in my backyard shed wiring it to run off a generator. I always have issues getting the sheathing off of Romex mainly due to my refusal to use utility knives. These strippers are amazing, I have been using them for both 12g and 14g romex and it pulls the sheathing off perfectly. It also has 12/14g wire strippers includes and a hole in the handle specifically for making the hooks on end of wires for receptacles.. These have saves me a ton of time and we’re totally worth the investment. My only complaint was my own fault.. I was working at dusk and lights were getting low. I was cutting bare copper down and I placed my hand below to catch the clipped portion. When I squeezed the clippers, the sheathing stripper portion which extends out a bit on the sides got the palm of my hand and OUCH.. they are sharp indeed.. so now I make sure I have plenty of light and keep my free hand away.. no fault of the tool and avoidable if I was wearing gloves.

When I saw someone raving about this tool on youtube I thought it would be a great tool to add to my electrician's arsenal of tools.I'm not sure if I got a 'bad' pair of these strippers or all of them are like it.Absolute waste of money, they don't strip the jacket of the romex at all.I tried different ways to do it, and I managed to strip the jacket eventually but I had to squeeze the handle so hard that it nicked the actual conductors.

I had high hopes for this tool and when it arrived I was very excited to use it. I’m in the middle of a project so I immediately went to a box with wires and reached in and went for a strip. Both handles immediately slipped off the tool and it landed on the floor. So that’s the first problem is that the handles are not glued on. The second problem is the jaws are not in alignment. I have already returned one and received a replacement and it is exactly the same. I’m going to glue the handles on and try it out again today but I have concerns of the wired getting nicked with the jaws being out of alignment. Great concept but somewhat poorly executed. Kind of bummed to have a made in the USA product of this quality.Update- this tool will nick the wire if you are not extremely careful. I nicked 2 wires and am done with this tool. Complete garbage.

I thought the product was great it seems very sturdy the cutting blades are very sharp it has a loophole and cutters and strippers and Romex strippers it is a bit awkward in a tool pouch so I tend to hang it where the screwdrivers would go on the outside. Do not try and use this tool to pull the Romex off unless you are using the flat surface at the biting end. If you try to use the sharp cutters and pull on the pliers themselves you may damage the conductors inside the sheathing to counteract this southwire has made it so the grips slide off easily you are intended to cut the wire with this tool and then pull it out of the box with your hand. From what I can tell of the reviews the bad ones are either people being too picky or people who don't know how to properly use this tool. I would buy it again and I'm thinking about buying a pair for my coworkers.

It's nice to cut NM wire square in the box but it doesn't feel quite the same quality of the Klein NM side cutters. That being said if you have OCD about your cuts, this tool is handy.

I actually bought these to review.I’m used to the Klein Curve bent tip cutters, that are sadly discontinued probably due to some patent dispute. Compared to those this tool is double wide. These things work fine, been using them for a month and haven’t seen them degrade or lose any sharpness. The problem I have with them is the double sided feature, it seems like a great idea at first. One tool for both 14/2 and 12/2! But the problem comes in when trying to use them for their intended purpose in a full box. You kind of need to pay attention to the other sides cutter so you don’t cut anything as they are just wide enough to reach the wire on the other side of a 1-gang. Usually being able to turn two tools in to one is a great thing as it means lighter tool bags. In this case I prefer the Klein approach using separate tools. I hardly ever find myself running 14/2 and 12/2 at the same time. To be honest if you find them in the same box a lot, where this tool would really shine, you might just be doing something wrong.Handy to have, not a game changer. Hope they make individual versions one day. Oh and they feel good in the hand...Package says Made in USA
