The VCR did not have a remote, fortunately I had a compatible one. However, the machine would just spit out ANY tape you tried to put in it, either a brand new blank one or pre-recorded, so it was worthless.

Unit came packed well, was clean and looks brand new. It does not eat any tapes, and everything inside and out sounds great.HOWEVER, the unit did not come with a remote control, which is essential for nearly all mechanics used to properly adjust SP/EP/SLP when playing tapes. Given the complexity with which VHS tapes have been used to record over 30+ years of marketing, this causes the VCR to attempt to automatically adjust between various speeds in real-time while the tapes are playing. Without a functioning remote control, the VCR does a sub-par job of automatically adjusting to the tape speed, and makes watching them useless.I do not recommend buying any VCR, regardless of vendor, without being guaranteed a proper remote control for the unit.

5 stars!! I previously left a bad review, but I can't find it to remove it. We thought that there was a problem with the VCR because it wasn't working. My husband figured out that it was a problem with a converter that we purchased (not from this seller). We were able to fix that problem and the VCR works perfectly! Came in excellent condition and the remote works as well. So sorry about the earlier 1 star review. I wish I could find it to remove it!! I would definitely recommend this seller and VCR.

VCR arrived on time and was packed extremely well. All functions work properly. Remote works properly. When connected to a High Definition digital TV the picture is not sharp and clear but it is OK for old movies and recordings. Good value!

So glad I took a chance and bought a used one. I thought my VHS tapes were going bad. No, it was the new players that are bad. This works like it's brand new and the picture quality is great. They just don't make them good like this, anymore.

Really happy with this, I chose this for the place I work at because we needed to convert over old VHS tapes to digital format before they rotted out. I order to save a small fortune I opted to buy a used VCR. This came packed really nicely and works perfectly! I would totally recommend buying refurbished items from this vendor over new if you want to save money (which honestly who doesn't?!)

We still have enough VHS tapes for viewing by the grandkids that we did not want to give up on a VCR just yet. Unfortunately, this one came without a manual and was old enough that the manual online was not for the same model that we purchased. The remote was an aftermarket controller without a manual (although I did find that one online). The bottom line is that we can play VHS tapes for the grandkids but we can't record anything because we can't set it up to receive the cable signal without the appropriate manual.
