Was able to easily use this kit to test the PH level of our garden soil. Using the strips is similar to using test strips to test water parameters in aquariums, swimming pools, and hot tubs. The directions provided were easy to understand and easy to perform. We had no other method to test the soil to confirm the results. However, my husband tested soil in out garden area, which has been successful in producing vegetables, and the results pointed to a PH level of 6. PH level of 6 is more than adequate to get the results we have been getting which leads to an accurate reading.

I ordered these strips in an effort to get better results from our backyard garden. These appear to work pretty well and we will see when the spring comes if the information we've gleaned from the test results allow us to guild up better soil.Unfortunately, we didn't notice that the strips have a 90-day suggested use-by expiration. We bought these in the fall and planned to use them in the early spring. However, 90 days put us well into winter, so by the time we were able to use them, they were well past the 90-day mark. This is frustrating for obvious reasons and I can only hope that they were still viable enough to yield helpful information. Now that I know the limits of this product, we will be more conscious of when we buy and administer the tests in the future.

I appreciate that this soil ph test strip bottle came with a seal on the inner lid. The product itself seems fine, with results easy to read, thanks to the color coding on the outer box. I wish the product came with a paper chart that you can hang on your fridge, garage or gardening space. You have to keep the box. Also, another reviewer mentioned that the strips need to be used within 90 days. I could not find that info anywhere on the bottle or the box. Indeed, it is listed within seller's description page. That info is helpful, and I believe it needs to be listed on the product itself.

Review: Soil pH Paper Test Kit – 200 Tester Strips (3.5-9 Range)If you're a gardener or someone who takes soil health seriously, the Soil pH Paper Test Kit is a handy and affordable tool to have in your arsenal. This kit includes 200 tester strips that cover a pH range from 3.5 to 9, making it suitable for a variety of applications, from testing your garden soil to checking the pH of your compost or indoor plant pots.Ease of UseOne of the most significant advantages of this pH test kit is its simplicity. The process is straightforward: you just dip a strip into a water and soil mixture, wait for the color to change, and compare it to the provided color chart. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, which is particularly beneficial for beginners who might be intimidated by more complex testing methods.AccuracyWhile these plastic/paper strips are great for a quick and general understanding of your soil's pH, they are not as precise as more advanced methods. The color chart provides a broad range of pH values, and the shifts in color can sometimes be subtle, making it a bit challenging to pinpoint an exact value. For a more accurate assessment, you might need to send a soil sample to a laboratory or use a digital pH tester. However, for most home gardeners, the level of accuracy provided by these strips is sufficient to guide basic soil management decisions.Durability and QuantityThe kit comes with 200 tester strips, which should last for quite a while, even if you test frequently. The strips themselves seem to be of good quality and haven't shown any signs of degradation or fading over time, which is crucial for maintaining consistent results. The packaging is also sturdy, which helps protect the strips from moisture and light, both of which can affect their performance.VersatilityThis pH test kit is versatile and can be used in various settings, including gardens, lawns, vegetable patches, and indoor plants. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, these strips can help you monitor the pH levels of different soil types and environments. This versatility makes it a valuable addition to any gardening toolkit.Value for MoneyConsidering the price point, this kit offers excellent value for money. The 200 strips provide plenty of tests, and the simplicity of the kit means you won't need to invest in expensive equipment or undergo complicated procedures. It's a cost-effective solution for regular soil pH testing.ConclusionThe Soil pH Paper Test Kit is a reliable and user-friendly option for anyone looking to quickly check the pH of their soil. While it may not provide the level of precision you'd get from a lab test or a digital pH meter, it's a great starting point and can help you make informed decisions about soil amendments and plant care. If you're a home gardener or simply curious about the health of your soil, this kit is definitely worth considering. This kit gets a high rating for its ease of use, affordability, and versatility. It's a practical tool for anyone who wants to keep an eye on their soil's pH without breaking the bank.

The expiration date is June 2026. I highly favor the simplicity of only having 14 colors to identify in field conditions. These are a good choice for a field kit.The same manufacturer also offers another model, a laboratory kit with over 100 colors, that is better suited for indoors testing and color identification.
