This pH and Nitrogen Soil Test Kit works fast to get results. It is very easy to use, and has 100 test strips so you don't run out too soon. The results seem mostly accurate to me, however I don't have any other way to know for sure if it is. But it's close enough I believe that I can go from this point on to make changes as needed for my soil. It's so nice that there are at least 100 test strips in the box so it will last for a little while. Having them does give me the comfort to rest a bit easier about my plants needs.

Two years ago, our garden bloomed magnificently. However, last year, most of the garden failed to produce and grow as it previously did. This kit confirmed what we suspected: low nitrogen levels and low PH levels. The kit was easy to use, and I would recommend it for soil testing.

I’m new to gardening and now starting a small patio garden. Everything will be in pots so these pH strips will help as I try different soils and mixes. Says you need distilled water but the kit has everything else you need and it’s easy to use.

I've struggled to get a really good garden to grow well. I've tried so many methods. Got real close last year with a self-watering tote. But when I stumbled upon an article stating how important it is to test your soil to make sure it has the right nutrients for the plants, I knew I had to get this kit.Unfortunately, my soil is still under 6 inches of snow and frozen solid, but in about 4 weeks, I'll be using this to test my 20 year old composted horse manure laden soil to see what it needs.

Ordered this kit because I don’t trust my electronic PH meter and needed to cross reference my readings, especially for my blueberry plants.I had made an acid mix a couple months ago and ready to plant my blueberries soon so I wanted to insure my soil was adequately acidic. I added an amount of sulfur that should in theory get me into the 4.5-5.0 range.I used this test kit with everything included except for distilled water to test several areas in my garden. The first area was my blueberry soil and after following the easy instructions I got a test strip indicating a soil Ph of about 4.5-5 which is what I expected. To avoid confirmation bias I also sampled a commercial potting mix which is known to be close to neutral and maybe slightly acidic in the 6.5-7 range. My test strip from this soil indicated it was in that range. I then retested and confirmed the acidic blueberry soil was indeed indicating 4.5-5.In short I was primarily concerned with using these strips to test for Ph and I think they were accurate enough for my purposes. I did find the nitrogen test to be useful as well.Very important to use only distilled water as I got a different result using county water on one test I did before buying a bottle of distilled water. Also important to give the test strip a full 60 seconds to develop and read it within a short window of time thereafter.Good soil test kit in my opinion baring any cross checking with a lab sample. I got 2 distinct results from individual samples that generally matched my expectations from each source. My grading scaleMy ratings are based on one or more of the following characteristics. Please note I consider 4 stars a very high rating.* 1 Star - unsatisfactory - poor quality - misleading or false ad copy - would not recommend to anyone* 2 Stars - below expectations, needs improvement - inferior materials And/Or design - poor value* 3 Stars - meets reasonable expectations of quality, design and durability at the price point* 4 Stars - Exceeded expectation - above average performance of materials, design and craftsmanship - good value - would recommend* Five stars - Truly outstanding - exceptional quality and design - exceeded all expectations of materials, design, craftsmanship, durability and value. Would recommend without any reservations5 point rating scale:* 1 - Unsatisfactory* 2 - Needs improvement* 3 - Meets expectations* 4 - Exceeds expectations* 5 - Truly outstanding

Last year gardens in my area including mine were awful. This year many of us are testing our soil when previously we've not needed to. These are a simple test for PH and nitrogen the two most important things the average gardener needs to know. I did take sample from several areas since my garden is large and did each test twice just to compare. I will conclude these do work...and each area was a bit different but the two tests in each spot tested the same. Now I can move on to having the county do a more in depth test for heavy metals. However, if you need a quick soil test these are a great place to start.

I'm putting in a garden this year and certain plants require different pH levels. This comes with everything needed to test the soil in the spring when the ground finally thaws.

I received this in mid-February. I went out to my garden and chipped up some frozen soil and ran the test. I got results consistent with the lab test I did two years ago. Nice since I paid a lot more for the lab test than this test kit cost.
