This CO detector alarm unit has a flip up AC plug that can plug into an AC outlet, no wiring is required. Also, the included battery can provide 10-year of backup power when the AC power is out. No more replacing the backup battery like you have to do with other CO alarm products. This unit is ideal as an add-on detector for your RV, camping tent if you use a propane heater in it, or even at an Airbnb rental if your rental is in a basement where the heater and boiler are located.

I’ve been looking for a simple carbon monoxide detector that would wake us if there’s a problem. This appears to meet our needs. It went into an outlet without obstructing the other outlet plugs just fine. It even comes with a battery backup. The battery is a little tricky to install if you don’t pull back on a piece of spring steel which is meant to hold the battery in place. My only complaint is that when I ran a sound test, I couldn’t hear it very well. In fairness I’m getting to the point where hearing aids will be required, but I don’t sleep with those in my ears. If I can’t hear it while sleeping, that seems like an issue. Here’s a quick test for you. If you can hear your wife correcting you on something you did or didn’t do right, then you should be able to hear this alarm just fine. If you constantly go huh, when someone is talking to you, then this isn’t going to be loud enough.

I traveled full time in my RV for five years where CO detectors are built into the walls as a safety requirement. I know people don't think about it in residential housing as much, and especially in all electric places in particular, but with all the construction going on outside with heavy equipment after Hurricane Milton, being back in an apartment for just a few months now frankly the CO detector felt suspiciously absent. So, I was very happy to be offered this product. They're very straight forward, so I'm not sure what I can say about superiority for this particular product, but I do like that it's simple and better looking than the average little black or brown, thin plastic ugly box. The operations confirmation test was automatic and easy. It seems to be a good product. I will warn you that you should bother to read the very simple instructions so you know the order of things. If you don't put the battery in the right way and confirm that with it running its test before you plug it into the wall, it will seem to be working and then chirp at you all day with a low battery warning. It has to have the battery in and reading it as charged to operate properly. FYI, it is not a standard sized battery that you will have in your drawer, but it is supposed to have a very long life.

While it remains to be seen whether the included battery backup in this CO2 alarm goes the distance, the rest of the device does exactly what it's advertised to do: detect and alarm when CO2 is detected in your home/garage. Besides, if it doesn't do the 10 years on the battery, its easily replaced.I have an outbuilding/garage that I wanted to test the alarm against, so I plugged it in out there, fired up my quad, closed all the doors and left it running while I waited outside to hear how loud the alarm would be, if it went off. It didn't take much time for the exhaust from the quad to set off the alarm, and it was loud enough to hear outside the building and about 20+ feet further, enough at the distance to know an alarm was going off somewhere, so I know it'll be loud enough in my house, plugged into the outlet next to my gas-supplied HVAC unit. There's a test button on it, and green LED showing its powered status, and after you put the battery in, and plug it in, that's it. Set and forget. It's a great safety device for any home where you have gas appliances, fireplaces, wood fired fireplaces, or in your garage. It'd be nice if it was smart-enabled/WiFi, so I could attach it to some Home Assistant automations, but it is what it is, and I won't deduct a star for that as its not advertised as having it. This is a must have for your home!

This is my review of .... "SITERWELL Plug in Carbon Monoxide Detector 10 Year Battery, CO Alarm Detector with Electrochemical Sensor and Sound Warning, AC Powered Portable Carbon Monoxide Detector for Home Office Travel,1-Pack."I first became aware of the danger of carbon monoxide many years ago when an old gas furnace in our old office building somehow cracked and started leaking CM. We started detecting a faint strange odor, but no one knew where it was coming from. After 2-3 days, someone went to the basement where the gas furnace was located and found the source, the local gas company was called in, and our heat was immediately cut off. We were advised of how dangerous this could have been. From that time until the present, we have kept a battery operated CM detector in our home, because we also have a gas furnace. This Siterwell plug in detector gives us a higher degree of protection. It begins to operate as soon as you plug it in, and helps keep you safe. Very pleased with this product!
