About this item

  • Ultrafine Grit - Elevate your sharpening experience with our green honing compound, featuring a micro-fine blend of Aluminum Oxide and Chromium Oxide. With abrasive particles size of 1 to 2 microns, it achieves an edge that rivers 10000 to 14000 grit.
  • Strict Quality Control - This green buffing compound has a smooth surface with almost no pits or bubbles. Its appropriate hardness makes it easier to apply to a leather strop or honing wheel. The thickened packaging ensures that the green wax rouge you receive will not break.
  • Razor Sharp Edge - This stropping compound is essential for the final step of sharpening. It effectively removes excess burrs from the blade edge, resulting in a razor-sharp edge. Your knives or tools will shine as brightly as if they just left the factory.
  • Easy to Use - Simply rub the bar of compound on your strop and evenly apply it to the surface. Once applied, it will polish blade edges more quickly, helping you achieve a mirror-polishing finish.
  • Wide Range of Uses - This green compound is suitable for various metal tools including kitchen knives, pocket knives, machetes, axes, woodworking chisels, and gouges. For most materials including aluminum, stainless steel, common steel, brass, cast iron, copper & much more.

Product Description

How to Use?

  • The green buffing compound will quickly put a fine polish on the edge of knives and tools. This fine chromium oxide and aluminum oxide abrasive is used when you want a polished, honed edge on your tools, and it can be used on leather, wood, or synthetic strops.
  • The waxy consistency makes it easy to apply the compound. Simply rub the bar of the compound on your leather strop and apply it evenly to the surface. After the compound is applied, the leather strop will polish blade edges more quickly and will help to achieve a mirror polish.
  • Generally, the green buffing compound can be covered the entire surface of the leather strop and a little lighter is better than too much. Meanwhile, the leather strop can be used without any compound, so if a small spot is missed, the leather strop will also be effective equally.

Tips: If the compound is too dry to load onto the strop, heat the compound by heat gun or hair dryer. If the leather is too dry or hard, put some mineral oil or honing oil on the strop to soften it.

That's what I mostly use it for, on a piece of leather glued to a board. Puts a nice mirror finish after a 1200 diamond plate.

I bought this because the bar that came with my Hutsul's strop was too hard and dry to use. I was not disappointed. This bar is just right. Easy to apply to the strop.

This polishing compound is a bit bigger than I've had before, but that just means that when I buy a new stropping belt I don't have to pay extra to get some smaller size polishing compound that is no better than this. It's quality is top notch and it functions great for setting the edge in my knives.

I've used a number of different compounds for stropping over the years... including expensive diamond emulsions... this is a good, uniform grit size compound that will do the job extremely well at a great price.

I was worried I wouldn’t find a comparable product to the micro-fine honing compound I bought at woodcraft 20+ years ago, but this stuff works just as well and there’s more wax in it so it goes into strops without needing to heat it first. Not a fan of the cube shape (8oz) but that’s just an aesthetic thing.

This is a very good and consistent/even grit compound that applies very easily to the strop. Not greasy or gummy, but a nice smooth application. Not like the very dry and chalky ones from other companies. Sharpness comes in just a few strokes. I will definitely be stripping all of my strops and apply this brand to them.

This is a large cake of polishing compound that should last for years. I'm using it on a leather strop glued to a piece of wood. So far I've been happy with the results I have gotten on kitchen knives, pocket knives and even a couple of axes.
