I read a lot of the criticism on this product and found most of them to be unsubstantiated. It fit together nicely. If you know how to put things together. And I found I didn’t actually need anything else added to it, like sand or water. But if I had, I would have added sand. For an inexpensive solution to aerate it was right for me. I found it it to be sturdy once put together. And easy to put together.

Workers great! We did two small islands in our front yard before seeding and fertilizing. We have not been able to get grass to grow. After going over areas with this aerator we finally got grass to come in! Only issue was it would not hold water , it kept leaking out at threads put sand in and worked great.

The tool lacks enough weight to put holes in soil even when cylinder is filled with sand. I made several passes over an area before I saw results. Worked best on bare soil and low cut grass that is damp. Build quality is good. It was unboxed, put together and being used in under 30 minutes. I'm 6ft-260lbs and the handle height is ok. It's a good value if you have small areas to aerate before replacing sod or spread grass seeds. Tool should be a little heavier.

It was easy to assemble. Tried to use it but found it needs weight in the drum. Worked well after adding weight. It is good for small areas but would be time consuming and difficult to use on the whole yard.

This product is well built and very easy to assemble. I love the design of the times.This is an affordable way to aerate your lawn. I filled the cylinder with sand, then added a 25lb. weight. I didn't bother, as my lawn was soft from recent rain and the spikes on the roller cut deeply enough. well constructed, and it WORKS!!

The device works ok after you do some modifications to the handle... there is such a mismatch in the tube sizes that make up the handle that it is never sturdy enough to work... the larger tube that makes up the outer handle part almost completely rotates around the inner tube and you cant tighten the bolts enough to make it work... what I did to make it work was to use aluminum channel to make a new outer sleeve that could be bolted tightly and then everything worked great...

This is a solidly made lawn aerator that requires a little time to assemble, but does a nice job on the lawn. As with any manually operated piece of equipment, a little muscle is needed to roll this device, but think of it as good exercise. The aerator weighs only a few pounds, though extra weight can be added by filling the drum with sand or water. I didn't bother, as my lawn was soft from recent rain and the spikes on the roller cut deeply enough. One caveat: keep little children away from the aerator as the spikes are long and sharp. Otherwise, I recommend this tool.

My wife bought me this for Christmas. I finally put it together this weekend as there was no need for it before now. I live in Indiana and it is now time to use it. It was easy to install but did not come with all the nuts/bolts/washers as the instructions state. It had rained 3 of the last 4 days, so I thought this would be the perfect time to try it out. It did not penetrate the soil at all. So I filled it with water, same result. This is useless for me.
