Sander was easy to assemble and did the sanding I needed perfectly. One thing I noted was that the drill needed to be in the reverse direction, or the screw that that holds the sandpaper tight would unscrew and the sandpaper tube would tend to spin.

Indispensable tool for anyone involved in woodworking. This drum sander transforms a standard drill into a highly unique sanding accessory, perfect for smoothing irregular surfaces and even shaping wood.I made several rocking chairs recently out of walnut and cherry woods. In the past, the most difficult part of these projects was 2M hours of final shaping and sanding. When I found this drill drum sander, it still took a long time but great simplified the process. Wish I’d known about this tool earlier and here’s a link to get one for yourself ... https://amzn.to/3xg6yEh

I have a bench top spindle sander. But as with a drill press, it can be awkward to set up for large material. Maybe I didn't buy one of these earlier because it looks silly. And I thought it a bit overpriced, still do. But I had a project that needed shaping on an inside curve of several 6' bookshelf boards. Seemed that doing them by hand would be easier than trying to manage them on a bench top sander. This thing works great. Very smooth bearings in the handle, no vibration. Should have bought one a while back. I still think it's a little pricey.

I built a stool with a hole in the middle to carry it. I first cut out the hole with a jigsaw and it was uneven and rough. I tried to handsand with paper but I worked for hours and barely made a dent. It took me five minutes with this tool. It has a sturdy metal handle on the other side of the sanding part away from your drill which makes it very easy to apply even pressure.

Summary - does it work - yes it does. However, there are some significant issues that keep it from really being useful.First off, the spindle end that goes into the drill is cut with TWO flat sides. I don't know of any drill chuck that has two flat surfaces. All drills now a days have 3 surfaces in the chuck to better grip the bit. By having 2, it is impossible to grip a flat surface. Instead, you have to insert it much farther and try to grip the round part of the spindle. Had I opened this in time, I would have sent it back because this is a deal-breaker as it makes it very difficult to get a solid lock on the spindle shaft. The second problem is that the rubber is just slightly too large to fit a standard round spindle sandpaper. You can get the sandpaper on about 75% of the way and then it's just too grippy. I've got other spindle sanders, so I know that it is entirely possible to design a spindle sander that is able both to grip the sandpaper tube and to make it relatively straightforward to get on and off. This one does not fit that category.Overall, it looks well constructed, however I have no idea if it will last because it is so difficult to use. This one was not a successful tool purchase and I really wish I could return it as it won't be getting much use here.

The 1" paper sandpaper roll was too small to slip all the way onto the 1" rubber. The 1-1/2" fit fine. Also the "C" clip on the end of the shaft popped off and flew across the room while I was trying to get the 1" roll on. I never found the small clip so now the I have to be careful because the handle can slip off the end of its shaft. Other than it not working properly, it's great.

I was skeptical this product would work for my purpose due to the price compared with similar products. As you can see in the pictures, it is a wonderful product. It saves many hours of hand sanding. It has some stability issues, as it appears off center at high speeds. However, at slow/low speeds, it does great work. I would highly recommend this product for the price.

This spindle sander was perfect for sanding curved cut wood. Made the jobs that much easier to complete. The changing of sand paper is fairly straight forward and takes a little strength to put it back on but it does not slip. Nice size handle for control of the drum.

Works well, handle gets hot after long periods of use, but as expected. Sanding and shaping edges are a breeze with this
