Average Salinity of Sea Water
Research data shows that most sea water's salnitiy is bettwen 30‰~35‰. However, each sea has different salinity, for example, the salinity of Dead Sea is as high as 227‰~281‰, the Red Sea reaches about 42.8‰ in some areas, but the Baltic Sea is as low as 10‰
- So this brine refractometer is perfect for measuring sea water or approximate salt solution.
Dual Scale Salinity Refractometer
The Scale Range
The aquarium refractomter features two scale: 0~100‰ (1‰=1 PPT=1000PPM) and also dispaly the corresponding specific gravity range 1.000 to 1.070. They are the most common units to show salnity of water. It means that you can get two readings in different units of measurement simultaneously by one time test.
The min reading resolution is 1 ‰, which allows to mearsure low concentrated salt solutions.
- 1‰=1 PPT=1000PPM, PPT means"parts per thousand", PPM means"parts per million"

ATC Function
The Brine refractometer can automatic compensate temperature function (ATC) when ambient temperature changes, and improve measurement accuracy to offer the reliable results.

I use this to measure the salinity on my reef tank. More accurate than the the plastic swing arm style. This one works well.

This refractometer is very difficult to read and requires a LOT of light to do so! For the record, my vision is better than 20/20 (I don't know the precise number, because my doc was jealous).This was my first refractometer, so I thought it might just go with the territory. I picked up another one and it was very easy to read.
