POWER SWITCH

ORIENTATION

It kept the bears from destroying my fruit trees this fall and winter. Stopped the neighbors from putsing with my fence and kept the others on their toes. It works as advertised, but I recommend that if you have a dry patch along your fence you wet it occasionally as it weakens the current.

This unit produces higher voltage with seemingly more current (overall power) than any other fence charger that I have ever owned (I've owned 4 Parmak fence electrifiers). It has a superior photoelectric panel in terms of size and apparent quality. It comes complete with a mating fence post adapter. Very pleased so far.UPDATE: I just had another Parmac fence electrifier (MAG12-UO Magnum) die after just over a year's use (just long enough to be out of warranty!) It was actually a replacement for a previous Parmac that died. So now I am ordering a second one of these S1500 units. In all, I have had 3 Parmac fence electrifiers die over the past 10 years.

This is a turn-key solar powered electric fence charger which puts out about 13.3KV to ground, with enough energy to dissuade most large animals from testing it. Arrived with all 4 solar panel mounting screws loose (backed out or never installed), so a #2 Philips screwdriver is required to take the housing apart, attach the solar panel to the housing, and put everything back together. You also cannot connect the internal 12V lead-acid battery to the system without a 5mm Allen wrench, which they do not provide. As others have mentioned, does not slide onto a USA standard T-post unless you spend some time on said post with an angle grinder. The fixed angle of the solar panel makes it useful only in early morning or late afternoon in summer. All that said, it's a nice all-in-one package which gets your fence energized as soon as you deal with all the setup hassles.

I've been looking for a solar fencer to help me take care of a new apiary i'm setting up. I live in a rural area and needed something strong enough to keep Black Bears out and so i wanted something robust. I chose this fencer based on the large solar panel which i knew would keep the battery charged and the high Joule rating. Long story short i'm extremely impressed with the build quality and components in this model. I really feel like for the price you can't beat it.Here are the best features:- Very well built. I was not expecting it to be built this solid. Im hoping this lasts a really long time.- Super easy installation. The manual is great and for an import product it is clear and well written.- Charges awesome even in low lighting and has a huge amount of power.Room for improvement:- Another review already mentioned this not fitting on a standard T-post, which i had trouble with initially as well. The reason for this is the nubs that stick out on the front side. I borrow a cordless grinder from a friend and ground the post to accept it in 2 minutes. In my opinion this isn't a big deal because the rest of the features of the unit and how heavy and well built it is. I'd rather spend 3 minutes work on that and have it outlast the other units but that's just my opinion.All in all a great fencer!

So far, I've not experienced any of the negatives that have been stated by other buyers that reviewed this solar charger. It was super easy to install, it you have the correct type of Allen wrench (the set with the ball end so that you can rotate and work at an angle, the battery is quick and easy to get to and attach, i didn't fool with attaching to a t post but instead used wood screws and attached to a wood post. After installing, I immediately hooked it to my fence (AC adapter used as well to allow the battery to fully charge) and the kick that this unit has is unreal. My horses have yet to test it, but one of my dogs no longer tries to slip under the fence to go take a crap in the neighbors bean field! Great product so far!!!

I purchased 2 of these. The first one put out 300v out of the box, got a refund. The second one worked fine for about a month, we had 2 solid days of rain and it shorted out. These are junk, buy a good one.

It does not fit on any regular t-posts. We needed to modify something to hang it. Strong current.
