It does work, but you need to make sure you have a really good grounding rod for it to do anything. The pulse system is fine for intermittent shock and has two modes. It provides an adequate jolt. Easy to set up, instructions aren't the best, but are understandable and easy to follow if you have never set one up before.

Am so looking forward to making a new pasture in an area to be able to move my alpacas closer to my ranch store. There is no electricity out there, and I certainly don't want to have to run a generator to power my electrical fences! Unit is heavy (no surprise considering the battery). Very easy to setup and seems sturdy enough, although time will tell.
