The distiller is easy set up and is operate and it is not too big or ugly. The noise was noticeable but not bad when it was in the same room as us. I am moving it to an out of the way room for future use.I'd buy it again and would recommend it to others.

Like the easy setup and operating. Easy to clean with the proper cleaner. Expect to be busy refilling it and storing extra distilled water. Now I cook with clean water, drink clean water & coffee and my pets are drinking clean water as well. May well be the best investment in equipment I've made in years. My S.O. used to buy bottled water that not only gets expensive, but the water quality of them are questionable. I trust my distiller more than bottlers that simply are using tap water from God knows where. I haven't had mine long enough to know what the electricity usage is yet. But in the last month I have processed about 45 gallons of water.

UPDATE: ok it was meeeee lol. I had a piece on incorrectly. The instructions weren’t very specific about which way to place the silver spout and that was the issue. It works great now that I’ve figured that out.Welllllll, using the product is very simple but, mine did not auto off when it was done as mentioned in the instructions. Per instructions I decided to set it over night before bed. I woke up to see water everywhere. Mine just kept going apparently so maybe do do it overnight although it’s mentioned in the instructions that it can be done that way due to the auto off feature.

I have had this for almost 3 years now. I have been using it for my CPaP humidifier, but recently bought a room humidifier and now use it almost 12 times a week. I have more than gotten my money's worth. I find it takes 5 hours to run.It is easy to use. Just put in the filter and fill the tank! The residue it leaves behind is really yukky...smells awful. I was drinking that stuff? Not anymore! I even use it for my coffee. With distilled water at $1.15 a gal, this has saved me a ton of money. The filter is easy to change (although I have to look up how to do it every time) and it is easy to clean (get pure citric acid-not the stuff that is "special" for distiller cleaning). The instructions say wipe it clean after every use and use citric acid once a month. I find because of the build up of my hard water, I have to clean it with citric acid about every week. It really is not a big deal. in using the citric acid, fill it to the top with regular water, do not put the lid on, and let it boil for 15 min or so. Then let it cool down before you try to rinse it out to get it ready for use again.DO NOT TRY TO RUSH THE COOL DOWN. I tried to dump the water and fill it with cold, but ended up scalding my hand. Not fun. Lesson learned. I am sure some of you will think I am a clutz and will try it yourself, but you have been warned!Pros: saves money, easy to use, result of clean, pure waterCons: cleaning takes some time and cleaning supplies.Upshot: BUY THIS MACHINE.

Easy to use.... As a tenant in no position to change the complex's water system, i couldn't believe how much my hard water leaves behind! I use the charcoal filter only when distilling for drinking, and remove it when distilling for strictly humidifer use. While the flavor as drinking water is pleasant, and even my tea and coffee tastes better... I am aware that any bit of bacteria that gets in will explode like crazy without any of the additives found in drinking water, so I add some bottled spring water to it to help control it. Keeping it cold and in an airtight glass container (best to fill to top so there's no air) will also keep any bacteria at bay. On this note - DO NOT STORE distilled water meant for drinking!!! I do not distill more than 2 days' worth (I drink a gallon a day) of drinking at a time, if not a fresh gallon daily. This is NOT considered "sealed" and is not safe for storing - Use it immediately, or close to immediately!WARNING : distilled water means ZERO minerals.... Depending on your health, using distilled may be more harmful than beneficial as the body requires minerals. You may experience signs of dehydration drinking distilled water - if so, ADD TRACES OF MINERALS/ELECTROLYTES or mix it with regular drinking water! This is another reason why i add bottled spring to mine - - because of how much I drink in a day (1 gal), mixing the two and adding minerals will still save me financially with constantly buying water as I cannot use my tap water with it hardness and apparently firing up the acid reflux!I use this distiller mostly for humidifier water and make sure to use the included cleaner powder before distilling any drinking water. I otherwise do a quick wipe in between humifider-intended. I charcoal filter is also removed and used onlyfor the drinking batches. As to the problem of smelly and foul tasting results - I gave not had a single incidence of this as I have read through through various comments across different distiller machines and have determined it is best to use a COUNTDOWN TIMER for 3.75 hours.... Not the full 4 hours. This leaves some water at the bottom so the sediment remnants do not get cooked up - which is cause of the foulness. It also makes it easier to quick- wipe. This also means the machine will automatically resume functions as the power was cut before it self-shut off. Operating with a countdown timer in this manner will help preserve the life of the machine itself. Also, i put aside the tap water intended to be distilled as drinking water for about a full day in n open container to off-gas the chlorine. The intentional off-gasing also helps with the flavor, in addition to the charcoal filter, although the filter isn't required at this point (it just helps to improve taste!)The steel collecting spout of the collecting container sits loose, which is a bit odd to me. I haven't had a need to connect the silicone tubing to aid in the collecting, though, but I do pay attention to the placement of the spout and have been without any leaking issues. This machine has been used daily since receiving, even upwards to 4x - 5x a day.....while I haven't had it for long, I'm disappointed that it seems to already have what seems rust on the interior of the top/cooling "lid" component. Other than that - I am other happy with it, thus far!Tip for transferring from collection jug to another bottle/container - use a silicone pour spout!! I'd lose a good amount with the initial tipping with dribbles down the side of the jug. I also use a funnel to assist, as it goes into a narrow-necked glass bottle. Perhaps not an issue of loss if it were into something wide-mouthed, but in any event - the pour spout now allows zero losd during transfer!Negative 1 star for the apparent rust. We'll see how I feel about it in 6 months. 😂
