I bought this because it only has a 3-4 day dry time before painting with latex paint. WAY shorter than the others. We'll see how that goes--it's been 2 days and it's still pretty soft (hasn't skinned over yet). Not a big deal, but it was a reason why I bought it. UPDATE: almost two weeks later and it was still pretty soft--I wouldn't chance painting it, so I hung the sash and will paint it next year. After kneading it a bit, it was quite soft to apply, but did get a bit gummy/sticky part way through--almost wished I hadn't warmed it up.It didn't immediately stick to the primed wood--I had to push on it a bit. Maybe that's the way it is with all glazing compound. I don't remember...I haven't done this in decades. One tip: if you end up with a sloppy job and want to smooth it, the TDS says to use mineral spirits. I felt it kinda dissolved it, which I didn't like. I just used water and my finger to smooth--kinda like what you would do with caulk. Worked fine for me. And you can do this the next day.

OMG! Of all the reviews I have read, almost all said that Dapp was horrible and sticky, hard to work with, it will make you want to never reglaze a window again. WELL, Dapp is twenty times better than this crap!!! I had bought a quart container of Dapp and thought, ok I will use it and then get a better product next time. So, all the wonderful reviews, I buy this one and I’m so excited!!! OH, GOD!!!! This is the worst crap I have used. I followed directions and mixed the whole container well, and then only removed what I needed each time. It gets sticky extremely quick, and you cannot get a smooth, pressed cut with your scraper. I WILL NEVER, EVER BUY THIS AGIAN!!

I did not even know that Red Devil made glazing putty . I used Dap 33 for decades and was always very unhappy with it because it was way too sticky and difficult to use as a result . At some point I went to Daps glazing in a caulking tube which was only slightly better . Then low and behold I saw this Red Devil version and I am very happy with it . It is just the right consistency and not too sticky , but sticky enough . Amazing that Dap could for decades never get their product right .

While I made this work with use of mineral spirits, it is very sticky and therefore difficult to use especially when glazing with windows in place. I also found it took forever to dry before ready for painting. As some other users have said, mildew appeared not long after painting; I used latex paint. Maybe the climate of Florida has something to do with these problems although did the work in early March.

Better and cheaper than DAP 33. The first time I glazed windows with DAP, I struggled, had lots of redos, had to use mineral spirits to clean and smooth and had to wait weeks to paint. This time around I used Red Devil, which was very easy to use, smoothed over cleanly without rips or tears and was able to paint in a few days (I think the 24 hour claim is a little optimistic). Just be sure to knead and warm up a chunk before applying. Use a metal scraper (the kind with a bevel edge) instead of a putty knife. Also was able to glaze windows in place without a problem. Cleans up off of tools and hands with Dawn and hot water - no special chemicals needed. Windex worked fine for cleaning up residue on the glass (might need a couple of passes).

Much easier to use than traditional putty, sticks well, will not dry in the tub while working with it.

This glazing putty is the best of brands I tried for reglazing a houseful of 1952 steel casement windows. DAP 33 is what HomeDepot and similar stores carry. I found it very difficult to work with - sticky, oily, and nearly impossible to tool. Red Devil brand was the best I tried. It has the right properties to stick to window sash and tool to a functional and attractive finish. It is easier and quicker to work with also. I was not able to find this product at any local stores so I completed my project with Sherwin Williams glazing putty which is very similar and easy to find. Price difference is a big factor. Red Devil cost about $15 on Amazon, while Sherwin Williams brand is less than $6 Per quart at the store. I had good results with it also. For final smoothing, dip your clean knife in paint thinner first to avoid dragging putty.
