This is an industrial grade paint / epoxy additive that can change the properties of what it is added to. For oil paints, adding fumed silica changes the rheology of the paint and can even add a bit of luminescence. For recipes there are a variety of online sites. Fumed silica is a component in many professional oil painting gels, for instance.This is a bag of industry standard fumed silica. Given the amount included it is a good value. Simply look online for how much this tends to cost.Will update review further after use.

I got this for my 3d printer filament to keep them dry, and it has done a really good job. It’s nice getting it in bulk like this so I can use it in totes and such.

This thickener is handy for thickening paints and epoxy resins, and for the price you get a LOT of it. Be prepared for a large box because it's got a lot of volume and very low weight, so storing it can be tough. Otherwise, though, there's nothing not to like about this and I highly recommend it.

I'd been using semi-generic fumed silica from Fibre Glast, but this stuff is tremendous. Incorporates nicely, deadly strong, big fan. EXTREMELY convenient to be able to buy it on Amazon, which will certainly keep me buying more!!5/5

I admit that I knew nothing about fumed silica when Husband felt we needed this, and so, I looked it up. There are any number of things fumed silica is used in, from paint to makeup to toothpaste to being used as a filler in silicone elastomer. Although we have not used this product yet, I am confident there will be a useful application.
