I picked up this rod to replace a rod I broke last fall. My Diawa SF-706 real fits this rod to a tee. I have only used this rod practicing and was hoping to get it on the water this fall. My trip had to be cancelled so I will get this partial review out. The metal reel mount is very high quality machining. Crisp tight threads holds the reel very secure with no unthreading or slippage. The 9 foot #6 line rod has great feel and the tip provides great roll cast accuracy with a little practice. This rod will last me a lifetime.

I've been fishing a lot more lately now that my kids are older, and I've always wanted to try fly fishing. I have no one to learn from, so I'm flying in the dark - I got this rod to get started. So, I don't have anything to compare it to, but I'll give my impressions. It seems really really nicely made. (This is coming from a guy who usually uses pushbutton reels from the big box store, so take that for what it's worth). But it feels like there's some real craftsmanship here. It fits together perfectly, and the case it really nice. And it's SO light! I mean, it makes sense that fly rods are super light given how they're used, but I wasn't expecting it to be so light. The budget reel I bought to pair with it attached no problem. I've still in the "practice casting" phase, but so far I'm really impressed with this rod.

This fly fishing rod is perfect for the traveling fisherman. It has a really nice hard case with dividers inside to keep all the parts separated. The rod itself is super lite and has really good quality guides, handle, and finish. The reel seat is aluminum and fits any reel you want to put on it. The only thing I don't like a out this kit is the fact there is no where to put your reel when you stow the rod. It would be handy to have a strap on the side of the case for the reel.

I got this rod to give fly fishing a try. It's a lot of fun and this rod works well. It's lightweight but flexes well and comes in a nice carry case.

This rod is on par with other name brand rods that cost way more. It's nice to see that good quality can still be affordable. The sections of the rod are perfectly mated and when fully assembled it almost looks like a one piece rod. The guides are straight and solidly attached with a very neat and smooth wrap. The cork but end is well finished with no loose edges or blemishes. The reel seat is straight and locks up tight. This rod's action is perfect for the type of fly fishing I do. Mostly dry flies for trout with the occasional nymph or emerger pattern if the fish aren't rising. Using a floating weight forward 5 weight line I can get solid casts out a decent distance. The action of the rod also assists in mending line in variable current. The included storage tube is a nice tube with separate pockets for each section. It has a softer lining to protect the rod sections. That said, I did change out the tube for one that has an included reel pocket so I can leave my reel on the rod when in storage. I liked the included case so much that I replaced an older one for a different rod with this case.Overall, this is a great rod that is easy enough to cast for beginners yet not something that you would "grow out of" as your skills improve.

This rod has such a nice feel to it. It's my first non-beginner rod, and I believe it will be my go-to fly rod for the next few seasons. I caught(and released) multiple Cuttrout trout while traveling through the Yukon.

Delivered today so I haven’t cast except in the yard. Rod seems great but the case was missing the bottom part. Rod fell out when I took it out of the box

On the advice of a friend, I ordered this rod as my first fly rod and it seems like a good product so far. Along with the machined aluminum reel I got this seems like a great setup. The included case is really handy and keeps the rod safe while not in use. While have yet to have a chance to actually fish with it, our practice sessions in the backyard have been a blast and I think this rod will suffice for many years.
