They advertise these as cast aluminum. They are pvc. False advertising. I paid more money for these because they were supposed to be aluminum.

I replaced a broken night light. You can’t tell the old from the new.

This item is made of a very strong plastic, not of metal. Additionally, the inside measures exactly 2 7/8 inches and the item fits very snuggly on my conduit pipe-with no room to spare. I was happy to find this item at this price as I was replacing a broken old one that was over 30 years old.

Needed to mount an outdoor pagoda light on a 3-1/2” pipe post. 1/2” thread Or post base lights available so this worked as a connectorSeems sturdyI’ll buy this again as the other lights need to be changed out.

The Amazon posting indicates it's aluminum, but what I received was PVC. I checked on the RAB web site, and it confirms it's PVC with molded in color. It's well made, but will simply not be as strong as cast aluminum. PVC is OK, but remember that it doesn't have the strength of aluminum, and so the 1/2" molded thread will not be a strong. PVC also deteriorates over extended exposure to UV rays from the sun, so while it will be OK for 5 years or so, it will get even more fragile as it ages. It's interior diameter is 2 7/8", not 2 1/2 as other posters have posted, and so it will NOT fit with 3" male bases etc. Given it's PVC, you can use a interior cyl sander to remove material, if you're skilled with steady hand.
