If you have parakeets like I do, you know they will make noise and stay awake no matter what if the lights stay on. This product is made of a thick material (polyester nylon?) which seems water proof and does black out the bird cage. My parakeets were startled at first, but quickly adapted and fell asleep. I thought this size would fit my cage and just barely does, so please be sure to good measurements. I do feel like this material will last as it seems durable. I do like that it fits right on top and has a zipper making it easy to remove. Recommended especially for parakeets.
