Much heavier duty than I anticipated. I was expecting paper thin and probably bent when delivered but I was absolutely wrong. This thing is rigid and quite stout. Nice coating and damage free in shipping. Wish more stuff was made like this.

Most of the bad reviews you're seeing are from people trying to use this rod with other brands of fans. I can tell you owning a progress lighting windmill ceiling fan(it's a big heavy fan) this down rod not only looks great but fits perfect.

What is there to say , it is a metal downrod ,didn't know ti had a rough finish on it but it is 22 ft off of the ground so no worries.
