This diaper pail is very loud —every time you close the diaper pail my baby startles from the loud noise as it closes. My ears also are super bothered by it. It’s evident that the product design team doesn’t have babies to understand that loud noises are not received well with a newborn. DO NOT BUY THIS product.

Aesthetically it is a pleasing looking trashcan that pulls in momma's who want a stainless steel trashcan that can last without picking up odors. I am not positive on the steel quality but it is metallic and feels like it will last at least 3 years.When the product arrived, the trap door to drop the garbage contents did not open. Not a big deal because you can unscrew the plates to expose the internals and fix the string that pulls the trap door open. Once I fixed that, the trap door opened and closed properly.The problem is the trap door does not open completely before it closes to drop the contents inside the garbage can. If you are paying more for a garbage can, I would expect this to work. At best the trap door opens only half way. The reason is it has two design flaws. The first is it uses a string that wraps around an axle to help open the trap door as the lid closes. To get the trap door to open completely, when you close the lid, the trap door should catch this second axle with a short plastic rivet. The string is to cover the distance to pull back the trap but the short plastic rivet never catches the second axle. If the trap door did catch the second axle, it would slowly roll back for a couple of seconds and then snap shut.This whole concept/trick doesn't work because it should have used springs to help push the trap door. When the lid opens, the springs will compress and lock into place to push the trap door. When the lid closes, the springs will push the trap door until it opens completely and then go back in a reset position.Until the design flaw is fixed, you are better off buying a stainless steel trash can with a lid than this. That should be cheaper than this.

I loved this design when I saw it in but buy baby. I thought it would be perfect for our nursery… fast forward 9 months and I wish I kept the box to return it. The first few times we used it I knew right away it wasn’t going to be a fit. It is so loud that I won’t put a diaper in it if I’m trying to get my baby to sleep because I don’t want to startle her. It also sometimes doesn’t open all the way to have the diaper drop so I need to open and close it a few times for the door inside to open and drop the diaper. Not worth it in my opinion. Wish I could return!

I had the older model for years and it worked well at containing the smell, but had a design flaw in the hinge that holds the bag. With this model, they’ve upgraded the hinge, and now it’s much stronger. My only complaints so far is that you have to have the lid fully open, then you have to close it somewhat slowly or the hatch will not open all the way, and the diaper will get stuck. Also, this model is a bit louder when it comes to putting the diaper in the pale, So it’s not a very good fit when it comes to disposing diapers if the baby is sleeping in the same room. This diaper pail is not in the same room with my baby, so it’s not an issue for me personally. Other than those things, it’s a good diaper pail, and contains the smell very well, and much better than any plastic diaper pail.

Easy to set up and use. Can use standard trash bags which is nice. Only complaint is the closing mechanism is a little loud
