I bought this to replace my DeWalt jig saw.Solely for the ease of changing blades.The blade change process of my DeWalt broke and seems to be convoluted as opposed the Porter Cables ease of quick blade change. Very nice jig saw.

After first buying a “no name” cheap brand on Amazon (first time use the piston literally fell out of the motor!!); I returned that cheap broken one and got this one; and it cut through a solid 3” thick OAK “cookie “ with ease.Just get this or better if you have “actual work” to do with your jigsaw, and be sure to get quality blades for whatever you use.

I've been a pro woodworker for 28 years and I've used a lot of Jigsaws. I prefer Bosch (The first company to produce them), However this year while visiting relatives on the other side of the country I needed a saw to do a project for them (Laying some floor in an entryway with lots of complicated cutouts around pipes and moldings and thresholds etc.) I looked on Amazon and found this. I haven't been too impressed with the direction Porter-Cable have gone in recent times but this tool has me reassessing that opinion. It's really good, especially for this price. Get some good blades and you should be well on your way. I can't speak for the longevity but it worked for me. I reluctantly left it behind on my return but will at least have a decent tool if I need it next time I visit.

What I was looking for in a reasonable priced jig saw was ease of use, and a stable blade guide. My existing saw has a terrible blade guide and it wanders anywhere it desires.This saw has both of those issues covered and cuts reasonably straight lines with decent vertical cut stability in thicker materials, plus the variable speed works well. Good buy!

Con la suficiente potencia para cortar sin mayor esfuerzo. La he usado un par de veces con maderas duras y contrachapados y me pareció muy estable y continuo su corte. El costo ni se diga... super!!

Another great "bang for your buck" tool from Porter Cable. Works great, miles ahead of some of the old Jigsaw's I have used at work. Very comparable to some of the bigger brand Jigsaws that sell for twice the price. I do not use it too regularly, just a hobbyist/around the house handyman. I have never had an issue with the speed selector being on the trigger as I am not particular enough to have a need to change speeds whilst cutting. The trigger is also pressure sensitive, so you can control your speed that way as well. I expect that this thing should last me decades.
