I have a palm tree that’s too close to my house, and its fronds lean down, eventually brushing my roof. Obviously, they must be trimmed back when that happens. I had previously used a ladder and my mini chainsaw to do that. My little chainsaw is great, but schlepping a ladder out to the tree is definitely worse than using a pole saw. I used the pole saw today and was surprised at how sharp it is – went right through the frond with little sawing required. This is why the directions suggest wearing gloves while assembling the saw, but the assembly required around the blade would be impossible with gloves (putting two nuts through two holes and then bolts), so I suggest leaving the plastic cover on the blade and not putting that segment of pole on the top until the blade is secured. I’m saving the plastic cover the blade came in to use during storage for a little protection, but I think a better cover should have been included as this one won’t last very long.

This is a good manual saw, was looking to get a electric version of these but decided to try this first and it's a solid option if what your trying to cut down is rigid. Unfortunately the brush and limbs I was trying to remove are just not still enough for this to do anything useful. Go to a tree, and sure it works great but for tree like shrubs and yard plants this is just not the tool for the job. Nothing against the tool, it's built solidly and worked great on the harder stuff I tried to cut through, but what I got it for it just lacks in. The cutting speed is alright for a manual saw, it's up to how many strokes you can muster, it's not that heavy either so everyone should be able to carry and use this. I agree with others that the blade could of been a little thicker and I'd like to of seen a blade guard/protector to keep it from rusting when not in use.

This pole saw is easy to assemble, but care should be taken when screwing in the blade. The teeth on the blade are sharp and work well at cutting branches off trees. The blade does feel a bit wobbly at times and I ended up having to go slower while cutting several branches. It is nice that the pole’s length can be adjusted by removing sections which makes it easier to cut branches that are closer.

This is my first time owning a tool of this sort, so I have no point of reference for comparison to similar saws. All I can say is that it works very well! I went on a shrub and tree branch trimming spree as soon as I unpackaged it--this baby saws quite effortlessly even through tree branches. The multiple module handle allows to extend it to a reasonable length, or to shorten it to be a hand-saw length. The blade has a "beak" curvature at the tip that I really appreciate--it allows you to easily retrieve fallen branches under shrubs without having to get on your hands and knees under the shrubbery to go fish for them (and get all scratched up or covered in leaf debris in the process). Wishing I'd gotten this sooner!

We were dreading the task of trimming our trees this year. The lower branches had been steadily getting higher and higher, and we were about to give in and hire a professional to handle the job. But then we decided to give this pole saw a try, and we're so glad we did! Initially, I was concerned about the pole coming in segments as I thought it might buckle or wobble at the joints, but I was pleasantly surprised that the pole remained sturdy throughout use, thanks to the thick gauge metal rods that fit snugly together. The blade cut through branches with ease, but it did take a few strokes to get through some of the thicker branches. This pole saw is an excellent value, allowing us to maintain our trees without breaking the bank.

I have used pole saws for years and thought I would try this one as it's great to have a back up and also an additional one for a friend to use! I was unsure just how sturdy the handle would be since it is pieces that are screwed together rather than have one long single pole but it was amazingly sturdy. I could not tell it was together in pieces by using it. I only cut a couple small branches to try it as we have a lot of ice right now and it's not a good time to be out trimming trees but I was satisfied with how it performed. I like the hook at the end of the blade as many times I've needed to try and hook a branch to get it down. This is going to be ideal for those situations. The blade seemed every bit as good as my more expensive pole saw. I'm very happy with this and it will be getting a lot of use once spring arrives.

We all have loppers and maybe a hand pruning saw, and we all of us call in the pros to work well up in the trees. This saw helps extend our do-it-yourself reach before we have to pay for a tree trimmer crew. The vendor says the saw comes with 5, 7, or 10 sections of handle. Maybe there are variations on different product pages, but the page I'm looking at shows only one model, and it turns out to have 5 sections. Overall length, tip to toe, about 6 feet.Lightweight handle, thin flexible blade, sturdy attachment, it's well built and easy to use. This is my first experience with a pole saw, so I learned by doing. I discovered that I should use a lopper where possible, then use a hand pruning saw where possible, and only use the pole saw when I couldn't reach with one of the other tools. I learned that cutting across the wood causes it to rock or sway, unless it's right up against a solid tree trunk. The best way to reduce sway seems to be to cut at an angle so that part of the force is directed along the branch rather than across it.A welcome addition to the gardening tool kit.
