LOVE THESE! I am using them in my indoor larger plants and my outdoor ones also. We go out of town on occasion and since I am a plant enthusiast and lover, I need to be sure my plants have sufficient water as we live in the desert. I use empty Pelegríno bottles,(plastic ones), to hold the water and they fit perfectly! Not sure if the glass bottles would fit just the same but the plastic ones are snug enough and I don’t have to worry about breaking them, so there’s that. Terra cotta water spikes have worked great so far with keeping the soil in my planters just moist enough for my thirsty little, and big, plants.

Sunny Florida provides for a year round growing season however, during those hot summer months, the plants can get parched. I purchased these a couple of times to help between waterings and I am so very pleased with them. Be very careful to not put it in the soil with your bottle in it (oops). The terra-cotta stays moist and provides that moisture to your soil and only draws the water in the bottle down when it’s needed. They’re inconspicuous, certainly more than whatever bottle you select to use with it. They’re so easy to use and will last a lifetime with proper use. I’ll never garden without these!

Very fragile. They break very easily, you have to use delicate hands when working with them. They work great when you get them in the pot or ground.

I got a "real" greenhouse after my small plastic one blew down during a storm last spring, so I'm still in a learning curve. Last winter was very warm, so I didn't take into account of not being able to use my hose this year. Winter finally hit Ohio, and with my hose frozen, it's too difficult to water the number of plants I have in my larger greenhouse with a watering can. The watering bulbs are too small for anything but small plants. I saw these and figured I'd give them a try. I just put them in, and was very happy that they fit all kinds of bottles! They all came intact. I soaked them for 5 mins like the instructions said and had no problem getting them into the soil. I ran out of bottles, so I just filled a couple with water to hold over until I can aquire more this weekend 🍷 When I initially filled them with water, just to see what happens, it was interesting to see how the outside became saturated. I have high hopes that these will keep my greenhouse plants watered for the rest of winter!

This really works, helps keep my blueberries from heat stressing in the daytime and my potted citrus in 25 gallon pots, well 2 of these and I really don't water anymore. BUT, LOTS of bottles to fill. It is worth the trade off for me as I care deeply how my plants are doing in the hot dry weather.I really use them, bought several bundles and some from other companies. All pretty much the same. They are delicate, but functional. You need to take care not to break them but if you are just a little careful, it should not be a problem.

The self-watering stakes are a must for plant parents who may travel. Your plants will always be watered by filling up one of the stakes. Soil will not be dry as the stakes draws down on the water keeping plant happy and watered.

I use this watering system for all my outside plants and my inside plants as well. After a few years, they do break down and will need replaced, but they are so worth the money and they save lots of time watering plants. The spikes also work well with extra large wine bottles.Remember to twist them gently in soft soil or they’ll break. If placed properly they will last for a long time.

Well packaged - received with zero damage. Sturdy construction. Just make a hole in the soil and push the pottery peg into the hole. Works with any bottle - glass or plastic that fits into the opening and is round to produce a good seal. I used regular plastic water bottles and was amazed that the water didn't leak out. That is if the bottle doesn't have a hole in it. If you put a hole in the bottle all the water flows out. So, fill a bottle with water then quickly turn the bottle upside down into the pottery peg. Water will outfeed into the soil as the soil dries. A transparent bottle will let you see how much water is used each day and when to refill. My houseplants are happy and I'm not overwatering or forgetting to water enough. The only downside is if you don't like the look of a plastic bottle in your planter. I suppose you could use the real small bottles and just fill them more frequently.
