Passione’s are hands down my favorite viola strings. They are quick to respond, rich in tone and extraordinarily expressive. With that being said, my set arrived with a completely false and hence useless D string. Could be the seller is selling out of date old dead stock strings, which is unacceptable.

Great sound on my 17". Especially the C string. You just need to be carefull about the restring them with proper care or they'll break.

I am giving this product a 3 stars because: 1. The G string completely broke/ripped on my second day. The D string is ripping as well where it loops around the peg, so far it is still holding. I don't tighten right away, I warm up the strings to avoid snapping. 2.Never played gut core strings but so far it is a bit difficult to play, which I think is a great challenge and looking forward to perfecting and learning. The sound sounds good, not too bright and not too dark. Compared to my zyex strings that were really dark and warm. So far these strings are better, less humming. 3. Since they are still new and breaking in I can't completely give a negative review. I still recommend these strings because they have so much potential. 4. These strings are real vibrant as well. I like them better then my pirastro evah gold strings, as those are really bright. Once i get to know them better I am sure I will give these 5 stars.

The C String sounds great on my viola. Being a gut string, it does break frequently. I also live in Los Angeles, close to the beach so it gets pretty dry here. The set overall, gives my 15 1/2 viola a warm tone.

This set of strings is making a tremendous difference on my viola. I find myself motivated to practice much more often than I did before. I teach orchestra in elementary schools, but my main instrument is percussion, and I don't have much experience with other high-end string sets, so take my words with a grain of salt. However, even though I have a very cheap student-level viola, other orchestra directors have expressed amazement at my tone quality since I got these strings. As for the strings themselves, they have a nice, dark tone quality, but are capable of playing very loudly, which is desirable on viola since we're so often an unheard middle part and since the size of the instrument is too small, acoustically, for the playing range of the instrument. The strings stay in tune well after a week of breaking them in. The C string seems a tad unresponsive, and I find I have to dig in more than I would like at the beginning of notes, but that could also be because of my cheap bow which needs rehairing. If you use Eudoxa viola strings now, give the Passione a try ... while the tone quality is indistinguishable to me, the Passione seem better able to project their sound.
