I love these strings, have used them for ages, bought a replacement set and received a single banged-up D string in the mail. Will be returning and buying from an actual music store. :)

I've been playing the viola for nearly 40 years. I have never spent this much on strings, and i never will again. I just wanted to see what was so special about the very best strings.They are amazing, beautiful, dynamic, and the correct rosin does actually make them resonate much better.The bottom line is that, big surprise, these are professional strings. If you make a career of playing the viola, then I would definitely consider trying these. If you play for fun, or for school, then consider Pirastro Synoxa strings. If you play for even the very best community orchestra, or are an unpaid member of a larger orchestra, then consider Pirastro Eudoxa or Olive strings.

I just got these strings for my very old viola and the difference in tone and projection was amazing. I am the entire viola section in a community orchestra and I had to pull back so my viola didn't overpower some of the other sections. They made my solos absolutely effortless and vibrant. I tried these strings for the viola because I got the Golds for my violin. I really love them on both instruments.

On my instrument, these strings offer just as much power and clarity as the Vision Solos I was using before, but with much more complex colors available, especially at softer dynamics. They do break in quickly (I changed my last set right before a Nutcracker performance and they were settled by the next day). I only wish they lasted longer--their good lifespan, for me, is about 4-6 weeks. Granted, I'm a professional playing 6-8 hours on an average work day, so maybe I can't expect much more. But I do notice these going downhill more quickly than my Vision Solos did. Still, I make more money when I sound better, so I'm happy to buy a few more sets a year in order to really sound the way I want to!

Oh my! These sound so much fuller on my 16" cecilio viola. Good rosin, bow, and strings.. really does wonders on a cheaper viola, even though my cecilio seems to be a pretty good instrument for the price!

This is an updated review on these fine viola strings, now raising my previous rating to five stars. I had originally given a three star rating because the A string broke immediately, despite careful installation, leaving the other three, which went on without incident. I was quickly and courteously contacted by the company, Evergreen Violin, and assured that customer satisfaction was paramount to them. They asked a few questions and we exchanged a few emails to clarify the situation, and before I knew it, a new replacement A string arrived at my door. These strings have a beautiful deep, rich, quality sound--very different from the previous, cheaper quality ones that were on the instrument before. I will now say heartily that this product is very much worth the extra expense, and I would give it SIX stars, if that were possible. I can fervently recommend Evergreen Violin, both for their products and for their integrity, and I plan to do business with them again. This company has far surpassed many brick - and - mortar stores in its solicitous treatment of a customer and I am happy and satisfied with my purchase.
