Product Description

BDR-XS07UHD

The BDR-XS07UHD slim slot portable USB 3.2 Gen1(3.0) BD/DVD/CD burner is the next generation Blu-ray Disc burner from Pioneer. The BDR-XS07UHD has a smooth slot loading mechanism that both dependable dustproof and excellent quietness have been realized. The drive supports BDXL and M-DISC format and can read and write to all BDXL discs1 including BD-R triple-layer 100GB media, BD-R quad-layer 128GB media, and BD-RE triple layer 100GB media, as well as conventional Blu-ray discs (single-layer 25GB media and dual-layer 50GB media). The portable device, measuring only 135mm (W) X 135mm (D) X 18.0mm (H) and weighing a mere 280g, also has the ability to be powered directly via USB (no AC adaptor required).

The BDR-XS07UHD includes CyberLink Software, “CyberLink Media Suite 10” only for Windows OS. It is needed to be downloaded through the WEB. Product key for free download is included. PowerDVD 14 delivers award winning playback software and will even upscale standard-definition content to high-definition quality. PowerDirector 15 LE allows you to import your home movies, edit them, and then upload them to social media sites. Power2Go 8 gives you the ability to burn your valuable files to Blu-ray (including triple and quad layer BDXL discs), DVD or CD media.

With BDXL and M-DISC support, you can now back up your files with fewer discs than ever before, and since the drive is portable and USB bus powered, all of this can be done virtually anywhere. The BDR-XS07UHD can write up to 6x *2 on BD-R and BD-R dual-layer (DL) media. One BD-R DL disc can hold the same amount of data as 10 DVDs (single-layer). One QL disc can hold the same amount of data as 27 DVDs (single-layer). The drive is also backward compatible to read and write to most DVD and CD recordable media. Please check and see all supported media formats and the read and write/burn speeds achievable for each format.

The BDR-XS07UHD also has unique features such as PowerRead *3, Auto Quiet mode, and PureRead4+ *4. PowerRead can provide smoother movie playback when a disc has fingerprints or minor surface scratches. Auto Quiet mode intelligently adjusts the disc rotation speed to reduce noise (useful while watching movies or listening to music), and PureRead automatically adjusts the drive parameters to minimize sound glitches during music playback. Auto Quiet mode and PureRead can be configured as well as enabled and disabled with the Pioneer BDR-XS07UHD Drive Utility.

*2 6x BD-R single-layer discs & BD-R DL discs write speed achieved using certain media. Refer to the “Supported media list”.

*3 PowerRead is not guaranteed to work with all disc conditions or under all PC environments.

*4 PureRead4+ is not guaranteed to work with all disc conditions or under all PC environments.

* Playback of Ultra HD Blu-ray requires a CPU that supports Intel Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX) technology. Intel SGX has been removed from Intel 11th generation and newer CPUs, and support for SGX may be removed on new versions of Intel drivers or utility programs such as Intel SGX and Intel Management Engine drivers and firmware in the future. Such changes could cause these platforms to lose support for Ultra HD Blu-ray movie disc playback. For information on other PC environment requirements, please refer to the PDF of User manual in this page.

PureRead4

Scratches and fingerprints on your CDs can cause them to skip. A drive normally makes a calculated guess at the unreadable data and attempts to correct this to match the original music. However, this is not 100% accurate. PureRead4+, when enabled, makes the drive reread the obscured data to extract the original music as accurately as possible.

reasons for selecting a pioneer blu-ray drive

Pioneer Blu-ray drives are the go-to drive for many users including for professional use, to the extent that Pioneer optical drives have become the drives of choice.

There are many reasons for this—Pioneer devices have many unique features that take advantage of long-cultivated knowledge and technology accumulated in the development of optical drives, as well as being one of the few manufacturers to not only design in-house the optical pickup, one of the most important parts in the design of optical drives, but to use in-house development and manufacture for the optical drive itself.

Here, we’ll introduce the reasons that Pioneer’s Blu-ray drives are the drives of choice for a wide range of users.

history

The history of Pioneer optical disc drives started with the development of LaserDiscs, and the company continued with the development and manufacture of all optical disc drives, including for CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays. This optical disc drive technology and expertise accumulated over many years is fundamental to the performance and quality of current Pioneer Blu-ray drives.

quality

Pioneer uses in-house development and manufacture for everything—from optical pickups through to disc transport mechanisms, control circuitry for these, and even the chassis. This drive condenses our expertise in optical disc technology going back to the era of the LaserDisc, enabling stable read and write operations.

reliability

Pioneer Blu-ray drives are renowned for their high writing quality, and are used for storage of historical documents such as those in libraries and museums, examination and treatment data in medical institutions, academic content and research data in educational institutions, and master data at broadcasters. The drives are also used for the storage of confidential documents, statistical data, and other data in government offices.

technology

In previous drives, when a read error occurred because of problems such as scratches or fingerprints on music CDs, this section with the error was interpolated and the sound approximated from this. Pioneer Blu-ray drives include PureRead technology, a unique technology for accurately reading data from music CDs. This technology automatically determines the state of discs that have scratches and makes adjustments accordingly to use an optimal read method, thus providing reading of music CDs that is as close as possible to the original.

mechanism

Different to the predominant tray-type used in slim external USB drives, our unique slot loading mechanism provides ease-of-use with an ingenious, novel configuration. Additionally, the high-speed stationary type incorporates a disc resonance stabilizer that also calculates airflow when the disc is rotating at high speeds. This mechanism provides more stable writing. "A range of other innovations provide industry-leading stability in writing and read operations. "

design

Pioneer’s unique design blends a luxurious design with the functionality of a space-saving clamshell type that opens and closes vertically, as well as a slot loading type that enables easy loading and removal of discs.

sustainability

Some optical disks can be stored for as long as 200 years or more, reducing waste from the disposal of data storage equipment.

Optical discs themselves are fully recyclable, so they are truly a sustainable data storage medium. Also, apart from when they are handling data, optical disc drives use no power, and are thus kind to the environment. In addition to comprehensive power-saving measures such as the unique Custom Eco function, the design and manufacture of Pioneer products takes into account the various environmental regulations of different countries, including compliance with the European RoHS Directive (10 substances) regarding restrictions on the use of certain specific hazardous substances included in electrical and electronic devices.

review

Most reviews of Pioneer optical disc drives are extremely positive. We invite you to browse the high ratings of reviews of Pioneer optical disc drives, attainable only because of our long work with optical discs.

Other less expensive drives are not recognized by the Mac OS. Works as advertised. Pretty quiet too.

I have three of these (two that are older revs). The front-loading is a big feature and keeps the footprint low when loading and unloading discs. A must-have for laptops without built-in optical drives.

i back up my blu ray library and use plex to stream my movies within house and with family. i bought this drive because it was said that it was libredrive ready right out of the box,and it did USED to be,and this allowed ya to copy your blu rays and 4k uhd to pc. but pioneer has updated the firmware, and this is no longer possible with this drive. the old firmware up to i think 1.02 worked,my drive shipped with 1.05.i read so many reviews saying this drive works for ripping, and it is an awesome drive, really, but it just cant do now what i bought it for. soif your reading about these drives nd how thier libredrive ready out of the box,if ya get lucky and get an old stock one with older firmware, sure. but if ya get a new one.......not gonna work.

I've been looking for an external blu-ray/DVD player for my PC for a while now that would also double as a writer so I could start digitizing my collection. I've had good luck with Pioneer before and although this was in the higher price range I don't mind paying extra for a quality product. There was no set up required for this - I hooked it up to my Windows 10 PC via USB and away I went. There's no external power sources or anything else to worry about. For the first week or so things were great. Movies played well and I ripped several discs that I've been meaning to look at for a while. Was very happy with everythingThen a few days ago I threw a disc in only to have the player spit it back out after a few seconds. Odd. Tried a couple more times but it just refused to load. I assumed maybe the movie itself was faulty so tried another blu-ray. Same thing happened. I disconnected the player from my computer and then plugged it back in and after that it took both discs first time. Was hoping it was only a fluke but now this seems to happen on a regular basis. Some movies it'll take first time, others it'll auto eject and I'll have to try again. Sometimes after the fourth or fifth time it'll finally read it. Seems to be totally random and can happen to both Blu-rays and DVDs. I've tried all the problem discs on both my Xbox and my four year old cheap external Blu-ray player and they all read first time with no problems so I'm at a loss on this. Some days it'll play every movie I put in instantly, other days it'll play none, even if they are the same disc.I'm very disappointed with this. For almost $200 I feel like I've gotten a defective product and will likely be requesting a refund. I would stay away from this one.

1. The Cyberlink PowerDVD software license provided with this drive is "CyberLink Media Suite 14 OEM". Current version is version 22. When trying to play a standard Blu-ray disk, the software pukes, will not play, makes you download a Ultra HD Blu-ray Advisor that proceeds to tell you that in order to play a standard Blu-ray disk you need "PowerDVD 15 Ultra (Retail version) version or above. Thank you Pioneer for providing software that does not play Blu-ray disks of any kind. (see first pic)2. The Cyberlink PowerDVD software will not play Ultra HD Blu-ray disks for several reasons, the first of which is that INTEL DOES NOT SUPPORT PLAYBACK OF ULTRA BLU-RAY COPY PROTECTED MATERIAL SINCE 2021 when they dropped support of their SGX trusted execution enviornment from their processors that are in all laptops and desktops. Does Pioneer not know this?!? Of course they do. Furthermore, again the Cyberlink Ultra HD Blu-ray Advisor software states that (among other reasons) that Cyberlink "PowerDVD 17 Ultra (Retail version) or above" is required to play Ultra HD Blu-ray disks. (see second pic)All of Pioneer's marketing on their website, on these Amazon listings, and on their retail boxes state that these drives can play Blu-ray disks, yet Pioneer provides software that cannot play Blu-ray disks of any kind, and flat out lies about being able to EVER play Blu-ray disks on Intel-based computers with 11th generation and above processors (starting 2021). Flat out lies. These USB-C drives and the two SATA Pioneer desktop drives are all getting returned.
