I have another phone holder similar to this in the car and it doesn’t need to line up and it grabs it but this one it’s like threading a needle it’s slow in latching on.

I thought it was a small stand but it is pretty large. It has two poles but it is easy to remove one and make it a simple stand for a MagSafe magnet.

Do not leave this unattended with an iPad mounted. They drop off at the oddest times. I do not trust this item.

I ordered this stand to hold my phone while practicing guitar with Fret Zealot, as the stand that came with Fret Zealot was small and lacked much adjustment for changing the viewing angle. This stand excels as a phone holder, allowing me to position the screen comfortably for focusing on the lesson. I also found it to be an excellent camera mount for close-up photography and a useful light stand with my other cameras. Now, I can use this stand instead of lugging around a heavier, bulkier tripod for smaller projects.The stand has a heavy base that securely holds the phone without tipping over. Its joints can be adjusted using the included hex key, conveniently stored in its bottom storage compartment. This is very sturdy, and the magnet is strong and holds my phone well. I’m able to adjust the height, which really helps me from constantly bending my neck to read my phone.
