Worked right out of the box. Easy to understand use. Didn't appear needed to calibrate for pH use (had checked against pool store readings). Very useful for salt pools specifically where older cells and salt PC boards may not be as accurate but the meter will ensure you keep generating chlorine. Other features are a nice bonus too.

I do a lot of hot tub work and I was very curious to know how accurate this would be, and I was pleasantly surprised! It works great and it's fairly accurate. It works well and it gets the job done!

Out of the box, this device takes some time to set up. While it's -possible- it will work without this step, I didn't try it because I wanted to be sure I could trust the readings. It comes with some buffering packets and you have to put them into little cups and basically calibrate the device. It's not a big deal and it seems like it should hold the calibration for a good amount of time (maybe forever till batteries totally go out?) but it was not a step I was expecting to take. I kinda wish it was calibrated out of the box and the buffers were just for if you needed to redo it.Other than that, this was a nice way to check my pool stuff without having to screw around with chemicals all the time.

At first glance, it seems to be a standard water testing meter, and it's also priced within the usual range. What stands out to me is its dual display for pH and salinity, as well as the large, clear, and easily readable backlit screen. I've always struggled with matching color shades on charts for test strips or drops, but this meter eliminates that issue.

I was looking a way to test the pH of my lawn soil, and decide to give this a try after searching online that you can test the pH by mixing the soil with distilled water. I first mixed the soil with distilled water really well, and then let it sit for about a week to let the soil settled down. I then calibrated the tester with the calibrating solution I made with the included pH calibration powder. I then test the distilled water and it has reading of 7.0 pH, and then I tested the soil water mix twice and got a pH of 6.9 both times. This pH tester comes with everything you need, easy to use and gives accurate results.

It seems to work; all my containers tested within a reasonable range. That's all I'm looking for with this. The pH tester does respond -- for my first test I plunged the tester into a hydroponics tank only to watch the reading start at 7.0, go to 7.1, and then quickly plummet to 0.0. In a panic I pulled the tester back out of the water, only to find that it still had its cap on. After removing the cap, I tried it again, and got a reasonable 6.1-6.5 reading. I'm happy with this as a lower cost alternative to professional equipment.

So as soon as I got this, after reading the instructions, I tested it out. The instructions say it comes calibrated and should work out of the box for pH and TDS. So I ran it through a test with 5 different water variations--first with the off-brand filter I had been using, then with tap water, then off-brand filtered water with 32g/gal amino acids dissolved into it, then water with a significant amount of sugar dissolved into it (1tsp into ~2oz water), and then water purified with a Pur filter. The pH values seemed accurate--they were all pretty much the same except the off-brand filter was a little acidic and the amino acid water was more acidic. But the TDS PPM was horrible. They were all nearly identical--the Pur filter had 2PPM less than the tap water, and had significantly more PPM than the off-brand water with added sugar. The TDS results made no sense and unfortunately made me have no trust for this sensor, which is a bummer as the TDS was exactly the reason I got it.
