Worked great on my father in laws 67 mustang. He was tuning a dual point setup that just wasn’t cutting it anymore. This was super easy to install and engine fired over right away!

Excellent for transition from dual points setup. One hint is that you will re-use your stock plate inside the distributor after you remove the points parts.

Used with a 1963 Ford 427 FE to replace the factory dual points, mechanical advance ignition. I liked the idea of protection against leaving the ignition hot without running the engine, a rev limiter and multi-spark for the 10.5:1 true compression I run. Prior to the swap I was having issues with misfires after about 20 minutes of driving, and I had already replaced the 50 year old coil with a heavy duty Napa unit less than a year prior so I decided to make the upgrade to electronic ignition. The Ignitor III bolts right in without any gapping which was easier than the Ignitor I/II setups. It was very fast to complete the mechanical installation. Pull the old points and condenser, put the ignition module directly onto the distributor plate, and complete the installation using 2 screws. No gapping. I did elect to use the included wire guide to route the wires away from the distributor shaft. The wire guide screw went right into the old condenser screw location. The wire grommet provided fit very well in the distributor and made for a clean installation. The wiring was completed by cutting the wires to length, clamping the cheap ring connectors onto the red and black wires and finally bolting on the two ring connectors onto the positive and negative sides of the coil. No ring terminal is provided to replace the now incompatible factory style boot connector for the ignition coil (your existing coil is probably not up to the task of running with the Ignitor III as well).Setting the rev limiter was easy. Ignition to on (not start), turn the very small phillips head adjuster screw all the way right, then left, wait to see the LED start flashing (it will start at the minimum 4,500rpm) and turn the screw slowly to the right. Stop when you want to check where you're at (it's pretty sensitive). Count the long flashes (1,000 each), then count the fast flashes (100) each. Let it repeat 2-3x to be sure. Once you're where you want to be, shut the ignition off, slap the cap and rotor back on, loosen the distributor lock bolt and fire it up.Initial start up with no adjustment revealed 0* before top dead center. I advanced the spark to stock spec 8* BTDC with the old school timing light. The engine ran smooth at a rock solid 900rpm idle (right about where I want for a 427 FE). The engine remained smooth with no misfiring on a strong pull all the way through 6,000rpm on the Stewart Warner tach. I didn't feel like testing the rev limiter (6,200) just for the heck of testing it.The kit loses a point for the cheapy, clamp on ring connectors and murky information on what coils might be expected to work with the system. I bought a new Flame-Thrower III coil to make sure. When I get some free time, I'll be replacing the cheapy clamp ring connectors with something water tight and more reliable.

Suspect this was a returned item. Box looked like it had been opened, writes on unit were frayed and twisted and scrape on wiring insulation. Since rest of unit seemed unused, I tried it before returning and it seems to work fine. This was a replacement to a ignitor 2 unit, most desired feature being the rev limiter which was easy to program.

Put in my 1970 Boss 302 and replaced the dual points. Worked better than the points.
