These work great for a points conversion. You can keep your stock looking distributor but never have to worry about points again. I installed my first set over 4 years ago and haven't had a single problem with it. Not I put these in all my cars with original points distributors. I would not recommend it for race/extreme performance use but for a reliable street car it is the way to go. It runs exactly as good as a fresh set of properly set points would.

Easy to install. However can’t locate a distributor cap that fits. The factor cap is to small.

This was a replacement for the same ignition I installed in 2002, so it lasted 22 years! It's an easy install as long as your set screw doesn't fall into the distributor, which mine did. A small telescoping magnetic tool got it right out though. After the install, I barely turned the engine over and it roared to life in a way that was startling. It's been so long since I installed the last one, I had forgotten how powerful this thing is. When the last one still had low miles on it I drove from San Francisco to LA on one tank of gas (24 gallons) and this is in a 19 foot long '69 Dodge Polara with a 318, driving at an unsafe speed. So it does help with the gas mileage. Highly recommended. 👍👍

So I purchased an old vehicle with a 318 that still had the points and resistor. I had all kinds of trouble trying to get it to start until I installed Pertronix. After the 15 minute install it started up immediately. I also installed the Pertronix flamethrower with it. What an amazing product!Just a side note, I removed the resister and installed the red positive to the ignition switch just like the instructions stated.

Very easy install. Purchased it for my 68 Plymouth Fury, 318 (5.2l). Evidently this fits a wide range of big and small block Mopars. Works with the original ballast resistor. The power and ground leads were much longer than needed, presumably in case you have relocated your coil, and the crimp eyelets were too large to fit through the hole in the distributor, but shortening the wires and adding new eyelets is a snap. Purchased along with a pertronix coil, I can’t say I’ve noticed a huge bump in power, but the car does idle smoother and starts easier.

I've literally sold 100+ of these over the past couple of decades, and have never heard a complaint. I have no personal experience with one failing, and both instances where I've been told about it were others saying "I heard..." On my advice, a friend installed one in his otherwise-restored '71 Charger R/T nearly 20 years ago and it still fires up instantly today.
