The hose comes apart. You think you can fix it but then it comes apart in another section. Works great until hose breaks.

I purchased this unit and within two months the hose failed. It split multiple times and would routinely fail. I emailed the seller who told me I had it for more than 30 days so they were not going to get involved. I'd have to call Pentair. They have to know they're selling a faulty product with all of the reviews being left. I called Pentair and their solution was to send out the exact same hose. This is not going to solve the problem. They refused to take the defective product back. Buyer beware all the way around.

The actual cleaner works well and has powerful suction. The problem is the hose and the swivels. Upon initial installation one of the swivels was cracked, I replaced one section of hose and two days later there were three holes in the hose shooting water several feet in the air. Working with the seller to replace parts, they redirect me to the manufacturer to double check parts listing. Would I recommend this cleaner? Yes, but not the hose, nor the seller.

I bought this as a replacement for the Legend unit that I had for about 5 years. Unit is fairly easy to assemble, but the hose is much larger than the original Legend unit and a spiral wound flex hose instead of tubing.- one section of the hose unraveled the first time I turned the unit on and caused my pump to cavitate- the hose connectors are difficult to align and tightenTo protect my pump in case the hose fails again, I put the pressure test disk in the pool wall receptical so that there will still be adequate backpressure if the hose unravels again.Bottom line, I don’t think the new hose is mechanically robust or a good design.

This is the worst ever, I got first one and pump was bad. Returned and got replacement one. Second one back up valve not working, it stays stuck on steps for hours until we have to move it. I am selling this today for $300, only two months old. I was advised by Pentair to take to local pool company they use here in Florida and they would not help or replace back up valve. Pentair would replace but wanted to charge me $25 for shipping. DO NOT BUYMy neighbor has the Polaris 360, I have used for a few days and it works perfect. Does not get stuck on steps. I am buying the Polaris today.

• The first set of sponges on the "tail" wore out in a couple of months, so be prepared to buy new ones. Replacement 5-packs and 10-packs are available on Amazon, but watch the price when comparing - I notice that the 10-packs now cost double the price (per sponge) as the 5-packs!• Most of the time, the cleaner will not crawl up the bottom step, and gets "hung up"(the reverse function doesn't back the unit away from the step so that it can try again), requiring that the cleaner be manually dragged away from the step.• The valve screw used to adjust the amount of water flow to the "tail" is extremely difficult to turn - it's in an awkward location, and requires a pair of pliers to turn the valve open or closed.• The pressure regulator valve/wall connector design is lame. There is a stainless steel screen upstream from the valve that. if even a -tiny- amount of debris makes it past the pool filter to the screen, blocks the line and prevents the cleaner from working. This could potentially damage your pool equipment, since it drastically reduces the flow of water through the rest of your pool equipment.• (Added 11/1/2016) The reverser mechanism completely stopped working after a year of use. The mechanism is just a plastic paddle turned by the flow of water to the cleaner that turns a bunch of plastic gears driving a diverter used to reverse the water flow. It's cheaply made, but at ~$50 for a replacement, it isn't cheap to buy.All in all, I really like the unit, and it does a ***wonderful*** job of cleaning the pool in an unexpectedly short period of time (it's FAST!) - just the nits listed above keep me from rating the Kreepy Krauly a 5.
