I recently bought a used Panasonic Lumix GM1 body. It's an incredibly compact camera and while I have other Micro Four Thirds (MFT) lenses, the tiny size of the GM1 really calls for the original kit zoom lens. The lens is surprisingly sharp, the zoom range is very useful (especially on the full-frame 24mm equivalent wide end), and the image stabilization works reasonably well. The construction quality is acceptable--definitely plasticky but it is well-finished and solid enough. The most significant con of this lens is the relatively slow variable aperture. So you'll be boosting your ISO more often and you'll want to carry another, faster lens if you want a blurred background or "bokeh." But a slow lens is a fair trade-off for the small size and low price. All in all, a very useful lens where compactness is paramount without a significant compromise on picture quality.

I used this lens as part of a little, easy to carry kit. I had it for a few months, but had only really used it for a few days. It did give some good images in full to lower light. The ring to activate the lens/ focus first started to spin freely without adjusting the lens, and then literally fell off in my hands. I knew it was a cheap lens, but I did expect more.

I purchased this lens for my Lumix-G7. I received the lens in good shape. It did not have a Panasonic box, just a plain white box and lens was wrapped in bubble wrap. Despite what others may have reported here, my lens had a black plastic mount and not the more desirable metal mount I was hoping for based on reviews here.. I guess this is being resold on it's own after originally being in a kit package. Seems new. Solid lens with good weight, not a cheap feeling lens. BIG ISSUE#1 was that the lens did not come with a back cap. So lens will remain on camera or will use other back cap when I use different lenses on the camera. Cannot just be tossed in camera bag, cannot risk with no warranty. No paperwork of any kind with the lens. BIG ISSUE #2 the F stop is tied to what mm your lens is set at. If you are shooting video with your f-stop set at 3.5 and your focal length at 12mm and you decide to zoom in to 32mm the f-stop will change to 5.6. To avoid that you need to be set at f5.6 when you begin, if you plan on adjusting focal length during your shot. BIG ISSUE #3 - NO focus ring on the lens. No manual focus capabilities other than touching the AF on the screen of your camera. Need to use the lens more to comment on it's performance.

The lens worked well.I give them 2 stars because the lied to me.It has a plastic mount, and I specifically asked to Enmanya Japan if this lens had a metal mount. Of course I wanted a lens with a metal mount. And they wrote:“Dear customer,Thank you for buying from us.This product is indicated as a metal mount.I am happy to make it useful for you.Thank you. “I believed in them...

This is a great lens, probably the best small zoom for M4/3 we've used. Like the fact that is doesn't make the camera huge and gives you a nice range. We tried the Olympus 12-40 F2.8 and while it was a great piece of glass it made any M4/3 body we paired it with awkward to hold and that lens is very heavy. This little Panasonic is not as quick but it's much more usable for everyday photography and retains the small form factor that most people switched to M4/3 for in the first place. We have this and the Panasonic Lecia 25MM F1.4 and an Oly E-M5 body. IS in this lens is disabled when mounted on the Oly body allowing the Oly in camera IS to work.

I compared this lens to the Olympus 14-42 EZ. The Pany is optically better but not by much and a bit wider: 24 vs 28. It's also smaller and lighter not that that matters much with these 4/3 lens. But the big negative for me was that like the old Olympus 14-42 you have to twist it to unlock it before you can use it and you then have to lock it back after. You just can't turn the camera on and start shooting. With the Olympus EZ you can don't even need to worry about the lens cap, it's built in. You just turn it on and start shooting. The Olympus also has more reach 84mm vs 64mm. I decided to keep the Olympus based on how convenient it is use. For me this is important in a walking around lens. If you want the best optically quality then go for the Panasonic. I would rate it optically a 5 but ease of use a 3. Whereby the Olympus is optically a 4 but ease of use a 5.

I bought this lens for my Lumix GX7 camera and to complement my primary lens (Leica 50mm) - giving me a little zoom option when I travel light. It is one of four lenses (Leica 50mm f/2.5, Lumix 35-100 f/2.8, Zeiss 25mm f/1.4 and Lumix 12-32 f/3.5) that I use on my GX7. I am very impressed with the sharpness and color, which are the two key features of a lens that I never compromise on. It is practical and very convenient for light travels without having to compromise on great photo shots. Although it is the least in sharpness and brightness of my four lenses, it still allows me to take great photos. In bright sunlight, it is nearly as sharp as the other three and the colors are almost as impressive. Overall, it holds its place well among my lenses except for night photos with limited lighting. In limited lighting situations, I use the Leica or Zeiss. I never use a flash, which perhaps would make this lens very attractive in poor lighting situations.
