The TAMRON 28-75mm F2.8 G2 is compact and easy to use yet has excellent optical performance and is compatible with the latest digital cameras with increasingly high pixel resolution. The AF drive uses a linear motor focus mechanism VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) that is fast, highly accurate and quiet. The lens also excels at close-up shooting, achieving an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 7.1in (0.18m) at the wide end and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.7. Additionally, the lens design takes operability into consideration by including a coating with excellent scratch resistance on the barrel of the lens and a rubber focusing ring for a comfortable, secure grip among other features. TAMRON pioneered the category of compact fast-aperture standard zoom lenses for mirrorless models. Now the 28-75mm F2.8 G2 is available for Nikon Z mount as the ideal everyday lens for Nikon full-frame mirrorless camera users.

i have the 24-70 2.8 s. for professional work and it's a great lens but it's pretty bulky and heavy. I wanted something more compact and lighter that could go on my Zf. The Build quality of this lens is obviously not as good as the nikon 24-70 but it's not bad at all. It balances really well on the Zf. I attached a photo showing the size difference and more than that is the weight it's just an easier lens to stash in a bag and i find myself always taking my camera along, there are a few times when i miss the 24mm on the wide end , but most situatuons that i use this camera for it's not an issue . You get a little bit extra reach and the abilty to focus very close as a bonus . The autofocus is fast quiet and smooth and the manual focus is also usable for video. for the money i think this is good leans for a serious hobbiest or maybe a professional starting out that can't quite afford the higher end Nikon Lenses.

Image quality is great. Focus speed is great. Sharpness - not so much. And serious vignetting at close focal length and large aperture. Would not rate it any better than the cheaper Nikon counterpart.

This is a very good general-purpose lens. I have a 24-200mm Nikon lens that I love, but it is not so good for indoors because it has an f4-6.3 aperture. So, I picked up the Tamron, and am very happy with it. The f2.8 aperture allows me to use it indoors without a flash, and it focuses quickly. Like others here, I originally wanted to buy the Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 S lens, but for more than $1,000 less and a much lighter weight, the Tamron is a better deal. It's close-focusing ability makes it a very versatile lens. I have gotten some very good shots with it.There's one note of caution, however. The Tamron button has a programmable Fn button on its side. I have it programmed to put the camera in Manual Focus Mode. But it is very easy to hit the button by mistake. The first week I used the lens I found myself wondering why the camera stopped focusing. But after awhile I realized what was happening and I was careful not to hit the button. However, I think the button can be disabled completely, so it's really not a problem.

This is a beautiful lens. The bokeh at f2.8 is gorgeous. Focuses quickly and renders colors beautifully. In my opinion, it’s better than the Nikon version. I wish it had image stabilization. I highly recommend this lens.

This lens had gotten great reviews. It was also faster and lighter than my Z 24-120 f4 S. The Tamron 28-75 quickly because my "walk about" lens with only the Nikkor being used for additional reach. Very please with the produce.

I was trying to decide between this and the Nikkor 24 - 70 f2.8. I am happy that I went with this one. It is lighter, has a closer focal length, and is less money. Great little lens.

Upon receiving the package it was painfully obvious that this was a used lens. Paper materials were smashed at the bottom of the box against the lens instead of its usual location. The lens was had some dirt spots and a surface scratch at the barrel. Not to mention that the box arrived OPEN and not latched. No padding was used inside the box. Overall a horrific presentation and delivery.Knowing this I still tested the lens and found that the pictures I took were soft at most focal lengths and f stops. I did not like the colors, contrast or sharpness.I will never know if this was a defective copy or not since I was sent a used lens. Now I need to deal with a return which is very inconvenient and something I don't like to do.Now I need to decide if I want to buy the same lens from a different retailer at a potential higher cost to see if I like the lens or not. What a terrible waste of my time.
