Repaint
In most cases, when the result is over 0.2mm(8mil), it's repainted.
Over Range
When the result is over 1.8mm(71mil), it shows OL, which means over range.

I bought this to test paint thinkness on a corvette. It didn’t work. Put it on my other car that has metal panels and it works well.

While not a high end paint meter, it's great to have on hand. It's better to check if you should paint polish/ correct automotive paint. No sense in working the paint if it's too thin. Very easy to use and note, it will not work on plastic bumpers.

After using times before over and over again it keeps reading 4MILS... I wouldn't recommend this product for business or residential. I have had mine for a long time and it still reads the same on any paint which is very inaccurate.

This device is easy to understand, affordable for any automobile inspector. Simple instructions, batteries included. Small size takes up little pocket space, and a pouch is included.

For the average car enthusiast, this works great! Tested it out on my 92 Mustang, 2022 Ram and 2008 Jeep Liberty. I was able to see the difference in paint depth of all cars (based on age) and test it on known bodywork on the Jeep. Everything measured out as it should! Perfect for deciding whether to buff out or repaint an older car, or find bodywork on a used car. For the price, it can't be beat!

Only reads in increments of .05 or exact mils. Which is not very good for use on customer vehicles. Only bought it because I was in a tight spot and needed one asap. Will be retiring it for a trustworthy gauge instead.
