This device is very easy to use, and everything about it is of highest quality: unit itself, manual in good English, calibration plates, very nice packaging at all levels, informative booklet with typical paint thickness of various car makes and models, ... I did not try to use the CD. I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist, and I strive for excellence in most things that I do. If I were to make and sell a product like this, this is how I would do it. There was obviously careful thought and planning put into this device, by someone who wants to make the best product out there. Very good value for the money.

The reading is activated by a "button" when pressed down on the surface. But you have to have this device directly on the surface and flat. It reads so fast that it'll give you a reading even when the device isn't placed properly. But to redo the reading you have to remove and replace the device on the surface... It's annoying. I thought pressing the button while on the surface would re-read but that is not the case. Pressing the button makes a beep noise but the reading just shows the inaccurate reading.When you can get a good reading, it seems to be accurate. But again, getting a good reading is hit or miss.It has a nice form-fitting silicone jacket. The case is fairly decent as well. The silicone jacket, as tight as it is, is easy to remove and replace for battery access. It also comes with a lanyard for the device but slightly gets in the way when removing the jacket.All this needs is for the the button press to redo the reading and it would be 5 stars.
