This outdoor timer works as expected as far as turning on and off lights using dawn/dusk setting or 2, 4, 6 or 8 hour timers. Note that if you are using the setting for 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours, you will need to first start this by turning it on and setting the timer for the exact time you want it to go on. You cannot set a specific time for it to go on otherwise. The surround is a fairly decent plastic and the cord is thick and very sturdy. The dial moves easily and the box has a small arrow indicating where to line up your setting choice. There is a red light indicator when the power is on.The bottom where you plug in your item has a lip that helps protect from moisture, and the outlets are fairly closely spaced together. This limits certain plugs from being able to be used. I have several lights that have a large or wide plug that the lip interferes, or I can only plug one item in because the outlets are too close together for the width of the plug. Unfortunately, I have found this to be the case with almost all timers. This particular timer does have the outlets slightly further apart than a couple of others I have. For the price of $13, this is a fair price and reasonable timer that I would recommend.

Solid value. Works great! Dual outlet. The dial operates firmly. Not sloppy like some units where the indicator can fall between settings and it becomes unclear which one it is set on. This unit does not turn on at dusk too soon. They all seem to have a maximum of 8 hours, if you want it longer the only other choice is dusk to dawn. This is standard for these units. There may be some high end digital units that can be set like a clock but you will probably pay $100 or more. Remember this is a timer. It is not a transformer and it will not step the voltage down to 12 Volts for typical landscaping low voltage lights. If you try to connect those it will blow the bulbs in them. (Malibu lights or similar). Better than mechanical units that jam and breakdown after some use. Less complicated too.

No dislikes, likes turns on a dusk and allows me to choose how many hours to keep my lights on.

Bought this in October for Halloween lights. Threw it away in November when it wouldn't turn on the Christmas lights. I can't believe it broke that fast.
