Worked great for one set of calipers and broke on the first one next go. I can't tell if this was even welded or press fit on, but it broke off as I was compressing my brake, just before full piston compression. They provided a socket to use for compressing and I hadn't put much effort through yet before it broke.When it worked for the two calipers the first time it was awesome. Hopefully I can get a replacement as I barely got to use this tool and was looking forward to the convenience of not using a C Clamp to compress calipers.

This tool came well packed in a cardboard box with foam insert. The main tool came with a pair of magnetically retained 'pads', a pair of gloves and a pair of caliper hangers.In the past I have often needed to use a c-clamp on stubborn calipers, and at times it was difficult to get the clamp positioned such that it applies uniform pressure on the correct access to retract the piston. This tool does a vastly superior job of ensuring that pressure is applied directly in the correct direction.I used a ratchet and socket to drive the tool in, although there is also a cross bar that can be used for calipers that are sliding freely. I do not recommend using an impact gun on this tool, it is far safer to take your time and use a ratchet - it was able to free up two fairly tight calipers with ease.The two caliper hangers are simple s-hooks, but they do a good job of keeping a caliper supported to ensure the flex hoses are not damaged when calipers are left to hang. These are a bonus - I usually have to use a bit of string (if I can find one!).Overall Verdict?Sturdy tool, good design, work well. I recommend this product.

This is a preliminary review before the use of this tool, based solely on the materials and build quality. I have a different style brake calliper spreader, which did not fit the two vehicles that I did a recent brake job on. I bought this as a second tool for my set and confirmed that it closes to a very narrow point which I think will fit even the smallest brake callipers. Once I use this on an actual break job, I will follow up, but for now, this product gets four stars from me.

Does exactly what you would expect and is packed very well. Product finish is nice and the product itself seems solid. Magnetic attachment of the plates allow removal for use on single piston calipers.I am not sure what purpose the included hooks serve, but can't complain about small extras.

This tool has some heft to it! Prior to obtaining this Orion Motor Tech Caliper Piston Compressor Tool, I had been using a modified 'c' clamp to compress the piston in my brake calipers. While my method was functional, it is super nice to have a tool designed for the job.This is a HEAVY tool, my goodness there's some heft to it. It is well made and features a thick blue powder coated finish. The threads on the tool should be greased/oiled before first use, as mine came dry. It shipped with a pair of caliper hangers (black), which are a nice add for hanging the calipers from a strut tower while sorting out the rest of the job.Usage: I had no trouble pressing the brake caliper piston back using this spreader. The tool is well up to the task of anything you'll likely throw at it. A pair of magnetic plates were included, which attach to the tool, to help spread out the load - depending on your application and whether or not you are pushing against a brake pad, you may or may not be able to use them. A socket was also included to drive the tool from any 3/8 inch drive device (impact gun or ratchet). I didn't need this for the light truck brakes I was working on tonight, but it sure will come in handy for some of the larger jobs.Overall this is a great find. I would have loved it if the caliper hangers were shipped in red, then I wouldn't loose them among the various car parts and FOD on the garage floor. The only thing that would make this tool better, is to deliver it in a pre-cut EVA foam organizer, to give it a place of honor in the tool chest. Well done Orion Motor Tech!

This brake caliper tool is great to have in the toolbox as it makes a simple brake job ten times easier when you're doing it yourself. Even the S hooks alone are of great help instead of having to rig up some zip ties or bungee cords having the caliper bouncing around. The caliper tool is super heavy duty made of steel and protected with the thick coat of paint or something. The actual pads that press onto the caliper pistons have strong magnets that attach it to the main tool. It is foolproof to use. If you are good enough to change the brakes yourself and use this tool then you can figure this out without the instruction manual.It's heavy and it takes up a bit of space in the toolbox but it's definitely worth it for that one time you just need to get a brake job done without any minor inconveniences. Wish I had this many years ago!

Being a repair shop owner for 25+ years, I've seen many types of tools come, and go... This style of brake caliper compressor works really well on those even stubborn brake calipers. The Orion Motor Tech tools do seem to have a better fit and finish than a lot of the other brands out there. Do note that if you have the screw piston type caliper, this tool will not work for you.While being relatively hefty in weight, it is easy to use, and takes less effort than other style caliper compressors I've used in the past. Although I will say, it does not fit into any caliper that has an opening less than 0.65 inches, as I found out on a couple of ATV brake calipers with severely worn brake pads (easy remedy is to press the piston by other means, just enough to fit this tool in)The included caliper hangers are a nice addition, although, being Old Skool, I don't have need for the included gloves, as I don't have any mental issues with getting my hands dirty.
