Drip emitters are fast becoming the most popular way to precisely apply water to individual plants. Unlike drip emitter tubing, which has the emitters pre-installed in the tubing at equal intervals, drip emitters give you flexibility to insert emitters with the same or different flow in 1/2-inch “blank” (meaning no emitters are pre-installed) distribution tubing at any interval. This is especially useful in shrub areas with different size plants and random spacing. Another advantage of drip emitters is that you can replace them with higher or lower flow emitters or entirely change the spacing as the landscape matures. Pressure compensation is achieved by a flexible flat diaphragm disc which keeps the flow constant across a range of pressures. This is especially important when multiple emitters are used over a long run of tubing. Pressure compensating drip emitters have a removable cap which allows for easy cleaning of the diaphragm. Use a drip punch tool to create a hole in 1/2-inch tubing and insert the 1/4-inch barb on the emitter into the tubing or insert the barb directly into the end of 1/4-inch drip tubing. Available flows are 1/2, 1, 2 and 4 gallons per hour (GPH). Recommended operating pressure is 30 PSI. For outdoor irrigation use with cold water only.

It has a 1/4" diameter all the way through, so no reduction of flow. If you want 1/2 GPH, get the Pressure-Compensating dripper.

Some of these emitters didn't work properly. The diaphram thingy inside was defective. Make sure you check it before installing.

No pressure regulation. Have to reduce pressure to almost zero to get it to drip. It streams at aquarium pump pressure level (very low). Does not have back-flow valve, so water returns to pump when off. NOT 1/2 GPH!

Work like they are supposed to, have noticed that some drip and some spray. Expect this is caused by placement and or hole being larger somehow.

I think some reviewers miss the point of this product. They work great and are efficient, saving you time, splices, and money, as you don’t need “T” fittings, will have fewer splices, and use less tubing. I have 7 rows of tomatoes and strawberries with a shutoff valve at the beginning of each row and a regular drip emitter or variable drip emitter to terminate each row.

This dripper is an INLINE dripper, not end of line, so water is meant to pass through it onto the next dripper INLINE. It drips at the specified amount from the small hole in the disc. A lot of people are confused, and mention they can look through the in and out ends. That is how it is designed, to let water through to the next INLINE dripper, and allow the dripping from the small hole. I hope this helps some understand how it functions, perfectly! Don't be mislead by those who don't understand how it works.
