Amazing reliability. Wish I had this sooner.

I needed to keep my new sod alive on 1/2 acre, so I set up 2 hubs and 4 controllers. I'm giving this 5 stars despite having a technical issue with one of the controllers (the 4-port) 15 days after the return window closed🙁. I like my system so much that I bought a new standalone controller and paid an additional $10 for a 3-year warranty this time, and I did it with a smile😊.Last summer, I tried the Insoma WiFi Sprinkler Timer (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BWHGHSY8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1), which uses 4 AA batteries that last about a week. In contrast, these Orbit controllers use 2 AA batteries, and I haven’t had to change them all summer. Here’s a bit of technical insight for fellow geeks! The battery life difference is apparently due to how each system handles a "running out of battery" scenario. I noticed in the Orbit documentation that checks the battery level before watering. If there’s enough power to perform both the turn-on and turn-off actions, it only energizes briefly to "turn the spigot" in either direction. It would seem that the Insoma keeps a solenoid continuously energized while watering (leading to shorter battery life) but running out of battery would cause the solenoid to close ensuring that it won’t be stuck watering indefinitely.I actually develop apps similar to the B-Hive app used to control this system. I can confidently say that this is the most reliable, intuitive, and visually appealing mobile app I’ve ever used. It’s the whole package. This is also my first review, and I’m writing it because I got everything I wanted, which is a rare occurrence for me.

Can't complain, I use the app and it works great. If you have Homebridge you can use that to have the controller show up on Apples home app. Apple does not allow you to program sprinklers but you can use it to turn them on and off manually. It does suck that you have to buy the wifi hub separately because you really need the wifi hub in my opinion. Just make sure you don't do smart watering in the app, always program it yourself and you will be fine. I also recommend to let it hang from one of those short hoses instead of directly on the hose bib.

This is a powerful unit with a lot of features, made accessible via the WiFi hub. Set-up of all components is well documented and straightforward. HOWEVER, UK and European users need to be aware that all fittings are US NSP which DO NOT accept our BSP fittings. The inlet leaks when connected to a BSP-threaded tap and BSP-threaded hozelock connectors CANNOT be screwed on the outlets at all! Thread adaptors are available from third-party suppliers on Amazon, but are quite expensive. A US to UK or EU power adapter plug is also required for the WiFi adapter, but UK/European mains 230 volts is supported and works fine.

Easy to install and lots of great features. Worked good for a week, but then the Orbit hub lost connection to my router. After troubleshooting online and at the Orbit site, I found that the device only works on the 2.4 GHz band. The Orbit FAQ site didn't help at all on how to fix it, fortunately my internet service provider had an instruction document to fix it. Both Orbit devices seem to be working again. I see lots of reviews online complaining about lack of connectivity, I'm sure from the same problem. Orbit should provide better instructions on this common problem.

EDIT#2: It's been 5 weeks. Working perfectly, every time. I just can't say enough good things about my B-Hyve. Totally a lifesaver for me, and couldn't be easier to use. Just get it!!EDIT: I have now had this set up for 2 weeks...still totally in love with my B-Hyve! In fact, I just purchased a second one for my backyard. If there was anything confusing, complicated or difficult about set up or use, I'd be the first person to tell you....but I'm just not seeing it. Super easy, every step of the way. And what a time-saver for me!! I don't understand some of the complaints in other reviews. Its not rocket science! Best purchase I've made in a very long time...100% thrilled!!So I've only had this set up for a couple of days, and I'm no expert, but I saw a DIY sprinkler system setup on YouTube and decided to give it a shot.Using the B-Hyve, I got everything set up for my front yard and gardens. The app is easy - VERY easy - to configure and use. Guys, I watered my front yard from the comfort of my living room this morning after years of spending hours 2 - 3 times a week moving sprinklers!!! Praise baby Jesus, no more manual watering for me! 100% recommend the B-Hyve if you can't afford an in-ground system. This is gonna save me so much time! If I have issues down the road, I'll come back and edit my review but so far, I couldn't be happier!

There is nothing to say as a minus for this product. I am very happy with it. Before this I had a Gardena Master + water distribuitor which was getting stuck. With this, not only that works flawlesly, but you can as well use the app features and functions which are awesome.

I finally got the 4 Port Time XD w/included Hub connected and working. The working range between the Hub and the Timer unit is not great, and it's difficult to diagnose because there are no diagnostics available*. It either shows "connected" or "not connected" in the app, and there's no signal strength indicator or percentage displayed. The connected/disconnected state seems to be tested only when executing a function, so I spent a long time turning one of the stations on and off manually a few dozen times to see whether or not the command was received by the timer.I eventually got a reliable connection between the Hub and the Timer unit by running a length of Ethernet for POE, and then buying a $10 POE-to-5V-USB extractor and mounting that and the Hub in a semi-covered area near my garden (see photo 1).From there it's about 50' to the Timer unit, but without a clear line-of-site. In fact there's about 15' elevation drop and a block wall in between (see Photo 2), but it does connect reasonably well. I tried 10 cycles of manual watering on/off, and it succeeded every time, but with anywhere between 5 and 20 seconds between when I pressed the button on the app and when I heard a "click" from the Timer unit.Orbit needs to add a real-time Diagnostics feature to the app, showing the real-time WiFi connection quality between the network and the Hub, and the real-time BlueTooth connection quality between the Hub and the Timer unit(s). This would allow the user to move the Hub around on an extension cord and optimize the placement before committing to a location. As things are, we're just guessing and using trial-and-error.Also, my testing seems to suggest that there's a minimum delay between a Manual Stop command and a Manual Start command. If I start a Manual Watering, I can stop it almost immediately, and I get a relay "click" within ~5 seconds of clicking the Stop button in the app. If I attempt to Start another Manual Watering cycle, sometimes it takes ~5 seconds and sometimes it takes 20. I _think_ if I wait awhile after my last Stop command, the Manual Start starts faster after I click in the app, but I'm not 100% sure about the correlation because I'm also troubleshooting connection issues. If there is a built-in delay/latency, Orbit should display a message in the app so that we're not left wondering whether the command was received or not.But I'm giving this 4 starts because it does work, and I've needed a connected timer for years now, and it finally appears to be reasonably good and reasonably priced.* Yes, on the advice from the Orbit forum I downloaded and tried the Orbit Assist app, but it tells me absolutely nothing useful. It shows only the download/upload speed to the Internet from where my phone is sitting, but nothing about the connections that are actually used by the B-Hyve products.

I have had this for one summer season and it has worked great. Set up was not as straightforward as I am used to go, but once you got it set up, nd once you use the app, very easy to get the irrigation system automated and running on its own. It even knows when rain or frost is coming and “smart adjusts”. So far, happy with my Orbit watering system…and love that I can control it from ANYWHERE.
