Good sensitivity and works well with Ham it Up.Gets warm and not hot to the touch.Small size makes using headphones or earbuds possible with jack next to usb port.Wayne

Depending on what frequency your on and a high sample rate, it does get warm but not hot to the touch. Great for Aircraft monitoring and FM radio 📻

This Dongle gets hot to the touch!.Makes it's own signal (noise) that stays dead center while tuning Up or Down the frequencies.Clearly something was not put together right inside. This dongle is Supposed to be a top-tier dongle from Nooelec ?. It stinks.I would have returned it in the 30 days , But I was in the hospital for some time And missed that window.I contacted their customer service , That was a huge mistake. because they just gave me the runaround and wanted to know everything ..with screenshots. the type of program I was using. The type of antenna I was using. The type of coax cable I was using. The settings of my SDR Software..You get the picture right?. Waste my time Hoping I just go away.I mean, I was already out $47. and they want to insult me further with a product that doesn't work right from the start..I have two super old dongles that work good with my setup. Wish I never trusted Nooelec.

Attached pictures (SDR++ v1.0.4):1) Dongle own noises with no antenna, no signals. The peak is always in the middle of selected scale which probably means it comes from frequency synthesizer. Also non-uniform noise floor.2, 3) Signal reflections, always against middle scale peak.4) RTL-SDR V3 dongle for comparison - barely visible mid-scale peak, uniform noise floor, no reflections. Signal gain is little lower, but all pretty clear. With so many issues, the dongle is rather useless for general RF sniffing / debugging. Best you can do is listening FM radio. Which is a shame, as otherwise seems to be a quality build.Returning.

Got this to replace the same XTR that I used in my GOES receiver. The original the one lasted a couple years, outside (in a box).I received this one in Feb, it worked twice, but the third time it outputs nothing but noise.

I have two of the XTR E4000 receiver. Great receivers, stable. Mine are on 24/7 and no issues. I threw on some heat sinks just to be on the safe side, but I don’t know if that was technically necessary (I just felt a bit better, knowing they are always on).

I own two basic NooElec SDRs which I'm pleased with, but was drawn to the specs on this one. I'm giving a couple operating tips later in this review.I hear a noticeable difference in noise level and sensitivity. I am not hearing anything I haven't heard on the other two, however - just better. Better antennas in lower noise locations can make this difference in the cheaper radios...There is unmet potential, however, brought out by a poor choice in printed circuit boards. Flexing the USB connector alters the frequency by up to several Hertz. I'm not talking about stressing it, something like setting something light on the coax where it pulls the end of the dongle down slightly is all it takes. The change in frequency is slight, but enough to affect copy of some digital modes. I connect the dongle to a USB Type A extension cable.I have burned in the oscillator now by keeping it connected to a laptop running my favorite SDR program since receiving the radio 10 days ago as of writing this review. It only drifted slightly (except for what I mentioned above) when new, and now even that has improved at room temperature. If you use an upconverter, you need to take it into account if you experience drift.I turn off AGC on any SDR software I use as it always cranks the gain much higher than needed. I find it every bit as sensitive as I want without all the spurious reception.Calibrating SDR dongles so WWV or your time/frequency standard stations of choice reads out to the exact frequency down to one Hertz is impossible due to how the radios tune.Over all, I am very happy with this SDR radio as its E4000 tuner is significantly better than the R820T2 tuner in lesser radios. The bottom line is this: If you're under impressed with the SDR dongle you're using now and improving your antenna doesn't help and changing software doesn't help (or playing with the software settings), then the investment into this one may be what is needed.Note that this radio does have a gap in coverage around 1 GHz that is listed in specs and the online description.

Clef SDR ok. En effet, il y a bien une atténuation de reception vers les 1100 MHz.Stabilité et calage en fréquence très bon par rapport a une clef RTL-SDR basique.
