Being as that I am a professional photographer i very rarely skimp on my gear. However a friend of mine picked one of these up and I was quite surprised. Ergonomically it feels good in the hand. The build feels solid and all buttons and dials work as they should. All buttons are programable. I like the shutter button because of the dual click action. When half pressed to focus you feel a slight click and when full pressed to release the shutter you feel the second click. There are reviews out there that say this priduct is cheap plastic. However I have not seen a battery grip yet that's made of aluminum. The only reason that I gave this a 4 out of 5 stars is because the battery's take some effort to get in the battery tray. They have to be inserted at just the right angle to make them fit properly. Not a deal breaker.

It's nice to have a cheaper option than the HORRIBLY overpriced OEM grip (it holds batteries, it's not a motordrive, jeez Sony...). Many people buy the grip for the extra battery, but just remember, it holds two batteries, the camera holds one. But it's not 2+1=3. You have to remove the battery from the camera to use the grip, so it only doubles your capacity. I didn't buy it for the extra battery (which is a nice bonus) I bought it because of the far more positive grip you can get on a camera with a vertical... well, grip. Novices seem to think that smaller/compact is inherently better when it comes to cameras. Not true at all. With a vertical grip, it feels like you're in command of the camera, it feels like you're driving the camera like it's a steering wheel. And in this sense, this grip delivers on that at a discount.However, though the fit and finish of the grip is mostly ok, the materials feel cheap (especially the battery tray, which may or may not matter in terms of how well it holds batteries, but when you see cheap craftsmanship, you have to wonder where else is it deficient that you CAN'T see?). I prefer to anchor my camera strap to the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera. But I just have NO confidence that the tripod anchor I use to connect my strap to the camera might not rip the mount out of the bottom of the grip while I have my Sony a7r IV and my heavy Sigma 12-24mm ultrawide attached to it. So even though the grip might never fail, I can't bring myself to use it which is a real bummer. And I'm sure if I had spent the atrocious amount of money for the Sony OEM grip, I wouldn't have the same apprehension. Your mileage may vary.

Ich habe jahrelang die sehr teuren SONY Grips gekauft und es jetzt einmal mit einem günstigeren Produkt versucht. Es kommt zu 90% an die Qualität der Sony Griffe heran und ist damit für mich perfekt zu gebrauchen. Zusammen mit den Batterien und Ladegerät ein echtes Schnäppchen, auch für den professionellen Anwender.

Cuidado al meterle un tornillo demasiado largo de trípode o monopie que atraviesas la empuñadura. El tope de plástico de la rosca es fino y si llegas a él, se rompe y puedes atravesar las conexiones. Le falta en vertical el botón de grabar video. Las baterías funcionan muy bien. Es una buena alternativa a la original.

The unit is easy to put on. Provides good grip and enhances the camera. I was on holiday for two weeks and constantly using the camera constantly. I found it easy to use in both orientation and the lock button was useful to prevent inadvertently triggering the shutter with the lower buttons. Supplied batteries worked well, got usually two days shooting out of them before recharge. Good overall price.

Install was quick and easy. After I got the grip installed it felt significantly better in the hands. Vertical shots are a breeze now. Battery life is excellent as well. Very happy with this grip. Only issue with the added bulk of the grip it no longer fits my previous case. I could remove the grip every time I need to store the camera but I feel like overtime something might break. Thankfully at least the grip can be charged via USB port without removing. Now I just have to find a case to house my A7R IV with the grip installed.

As a semi pro photographer I’m definitely familiar with Neewar and have several pieces of gear from them. They generally make high quality gear.I was skeptical at not buying a Sony vertical grip but thought I would give this a try. Much to my surprise it fits my Sony a7 IV perfectly. The grips are a near perfect match to Sony’s texture and color.All or the buttons work and the fact that it comes with two batteries is a major plus.My only complaint and trust me I’m being super nit picky here is that the two scroll wheels are not as smooth as Sony’s. This is by far not a deal breaker as they work exactly as they should. I have mine set to control aperture and shutter speed.Overall a great grip and I definitely recommend it.

Neewer is a big name in the third party camera accessory space. I've owned many items made by them ranging from flash, to battery, to filters, and LED lights. This is an addition to my Neewer collections. This grip is well made, completed with a pair of FZ100 batteries, a USB-C charger. It fits my Sony A7R4 pretty well with a couple of customizable buttons. Both FZ100 batteries could be loaded in the grip to power the camera which significantly extends the camera battery life. Before installation, the original battery door needs to be removed. If you are not familiar with how to, don't force it open otherwise you end up break it very easily. Simply refer to some videos on youtube, and you will get it fairly quickly.

This was an easy add on. Fits snugly. Feels nice in the hands. And the battery life is great as well. Very pleased.
