About this item

  • PLEASE NOTE: The telescope is not included. Kit includes: (1)Lunar & Starglow Filter; (1)CPL Filter; (5)Color Filters: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue; Designed to reduce glare and light scattering, increase contrast through selective filtration, increase definition and resolution, reduce irradiation and lessen eye fatigue
  • LUNAR & STARGLOW FILTER: Cuts down glare and brings out much more surface detail and gives you better contrast; It is a multi band pass filter transmitting a high percentage of light in the visual spectrum; Effectively filters out selective wavelengths of low pressure sodium and other man-made sources typically used in street lighting
  • CPL FILTER: By utilizing a CPL filter, which filters out scattered light, you are able to cut through those reflections and see the detail behind it; Enhances the contrast of the moon and planets in photographic images
  • STANDARD 1.25" THREAD SIZE: 1.25 inches/ 3.17 centimeters thread size, fits most telescopes; Color filters have the grooves needed to be softly screwed into the eyepieces lens easily
  • 5 COLOR FILTERS: Includes Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue; Red: Helps make Mercury and Venus stand out from the blue sky when viewed during the day; Orange: Helps increase contrast between light and dark areas, penetrates clouds; Yellow: Helps greatly in viewing Mars by bringing out the polar ice caps; Green: Enhances frost patches, surface fogs, and polar projections on Mars; Blue: Helps split the binary star Antares when at maximum separation

The cpl filtet is probably the best out the set and it gave at 50 percent more detail on the moon and it was great jupiter. Also, the condition was foggy. I expect much more on a clear night

I used the product with my Telescope (Slokey 50080, ) the filters are standard international size and the results are ultimate while capturing Moon and site pictures during sunny day time - overall good product

This set of filters are of outstanding quality. Overall, they exceed expectations for value and quality. They are very well packed in the provided case and the filters perform above average. Being constructed of all metal and glass, these will provide many years of heavy use.

First, let me start off by saying that these are not what could be considered as high quality filters. But for the casual observer they do the job. Most, if not all telescope filter manufactures number there filters. Which makes it awhile lot easier to know which filter to use for what. These are not numbered. I've gone through Newer filters and gotten as close as I can to the filter numbering used by other manufactures.NEWER FILTER GUIDEThe set includes a Moon and Skyglow Filter, a CPL Filter and 5 Color Filters(Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue).Moon and Skyglow FilterIt cuts down glare and brings out much more surface detail and gives you better contrast.CPL FilterIt filters out scattered light, enables you to cut through reflections and see the detail behind it. It tones down the brightness of the lunar surface so you can enjoy optimized contrast of the moon.5 Color FiltersIncludes Red Filter, Orange Filter, Yellow Filter, Green Filter and Blue Filter.#25-Red FilterUsed in large telescopes, it sharpens boundaries and increases contrast on Mars, sharpens belt contrast on Jupiter, and brings out surface detail on Saturn.#21-Orange FilterIt helps increase contrast between light and dark areas, penetrates clouds, and assists in detecting dust storms on Mars. It also helps bring out the Great Red Spot and sharpen contrast on Jupiter.#15-Yellow FilterIt helps in viewing Mars by bringing out the polar ice caps, enhancing blue clouds in the atmosphere, increasing contrast, and brightening desert regions. It also enhances red and orange features on Jupiter and Saturn and darkens the blue festoons near Jupiter's equator.#58-Green FilterIt enhances frost patches, surface fogs, and polar projections on Mars, the ring system on Saturn, belts on Jupiter and works as a general-purpose filter when viewing the Moon.#80-Blue FilterIt provides detail in atmospheric clouds on Mars, increases contrast on the moon, brings out detail in belts and polar features on Saturn, enhances contrast on Jupiter's bright areas and cloud boundaries. It also helps split the binary star Antares when at maximum separation.

-While I've only occasionally experimented with the color filters thus far, I have come to really appreciate the the CPL and Moon & Sky Glow filters- the real reason I bought these in the first place.-They are, in fact, made of aluminum and glass & are quality-made pieces. They are double-threaded and stackable, and will thread easily onto either eyepieces or prime focus adapters for SLR cameras. They also come with pretty cool packets with velcro closures- although I added additional protection with 2" x 2" plastic zip-loc mini bags for each piece.-The Moon and Sky Glow Filter not only increased clarity and contrast for viewing the moon- in it's fuller phases especially (even better + the CPL for that)- but is also good for increasing the contrast and "blackness" of the sky when viewing star clusters under light-polluted conditions (I live in very light polluted Osaka, Japan) with good skies- & there are some great ones in the area of Saturn these days, btw- with wider field eyepieces.-I haven't found it of much benefit when viewing planets like Jupiter or Saturn, but my current telescope- a 90 mm Mak-Cass- just doesn't gather enough light with its aperture (but then, I can see pretty good definition- moons, rings and cloud bands- without filters on good nights anyway). I plan to upgrade to a 127 mm fairly soon, and they may prove more useful since it'll gather about 100% more light.-HOWEVER... When viewing really brilliant planets like Venus or Mars (these days) with my 90 mm Mak-Cass? Using both the Moon and Sky Glow and the CPL can help pretty dramatically. Venus is always a bit tricky (very brilliant & with a pretty short viewing window), but they cut the brilliance to where you can easily see the phase outlined very clearly, and they've been working very well with Mars, as well- which is getting bigger and brighter each week approaching its opposition on July 27th. With my scope, these filters, and a 15 mm Plossl + 5x Barlow, I'm getting great views & am even getting glimpses of the south polar ice cap. I've also been able to see the recent dust storm developing over the past month- not that it's a good thing, lol...-So for the money? While I'm sure there are better out there, these guys are hands-down a solid investment- especially with a pretty spectacular Mars opposition coming- and will enhance both your viewing and astrophotography for a very reasonable price.-Now, let's all hope those Martian dust storms clear up soon... ;)
