This is my first moon filter. I definitely think it is a must have for those of us who live to gaze at the moon and some brighter planets. It helps a ton with when there is a full moon specially. I compared it to my friends filter which costs twice more and I see no reason why not buy this one. It even helps when you want to see features close to the terminator as it enhances the relieves of valleys, rimaes, montes as well as the contrast of shadows. A great addition even if it is not a mandatory one.

Helps to minimize over exposure of bright stars and limit light pollution on long exposure photos. Minimal impact to color. Useful on galaxy and broadband targets where a UHC filter would cut out too much of the "white light". I only use when my long exposures start to blow out the brighter stars, or if minimal moon glow is present.

Will this cut down on Light pollution for Astrophotography? The answer: Not in a meaningful way.In order for a light pollution filter to be effective, it has to reject strongly some types of man-made light and let through others that you want. This filter was a "very" light general cut to most different wavelengths of light. Since this is the case, yes it will lightly cut all incoming light making it look like it is doing something. All this does is make you expose longer for your subs. This is a meaningless trade. This filter will not make a real difference that will make post-processing more effective which is what many people want in a LP filter. I had a $7 Nebula filter that did the exact same thing I saw in this filter. This filter did Blue things some so the ICE claim was fine. - HarryMy verdict - Returned.

This product is like the astronomical equivalent of a DSLR polarization lens. I used it the other night in a moderately light polluted area and it removed the glare that I typically see around stars at that location. Everything was crisper and sharper, like a clear October night. It doesn't work miracles, but it definitely improves the viewing experience. Well worth the price.

Works well . NOT dark enough for the Moon though . Happy .

I live South of Atlanta, GA in the suburbs. I am a 90% visual observer with Explore Scientific 2" eyepieces on either my Celestron CPC-100 Deluxe HD or my son's Orion Skyquest XT10 Dobsonian. I've tried lots of filters to cut light pollution (city skyglow and street light pollution). I've tried the Celestron UHC LPR (which is my 2nd favorite but it has a purple hue) as well as the Orion Oxygen III, Orion Ultrablock (LPR), and this Moon & Skyglow Neodymium. The O-III is a very specific narrowband filter for looking at certain nebulae...other objects will disappear...so it is not good for general visual use with all objects. The Ultrablock is good for planetary and emission nebula...but it gives a green hue to everything. This Neodymium moon/skyglow filter cuts down on city glow and streetlight pollution without adding too much weird coloration. Contrast increases. It has a very slight purple/blue hue to it, but stars are still white (instead of green / blue / purple with other filters).

This isn’t a very narrow band filter. I believe it’s just a piece of neodymium glass which filters out several wavelengths, the most important one being the one around the double sodium band. I use it mainly in moderately dark suburban skies while imaging star clusters and galaxies. For nebula, I have narrower bandpass filters.

for the price this is a must. i live in town and sky glow is pretty bad. with this filter is almost 100% gone. gives slight colour cat but this is easily corrected. fits on any 2" eyepiece/adapter/diagonal and much cheaper than other alternatives i could find. delivered on time in perfect condition too. very well made compared to some expensive pieces of kit i had ordered in past.
