About this item

  • The 1.25" O-III filter useful for large aperture telescopes through which the light of the Moon can be extremely overwhelming. Allowing just for the Double Ionized Oxygen lines between 495.9nm to 500.7nm to pass through at 90%
  • Astrophotographic; The filter enhances contrast during visual observation of gaseous and planetary nebulae in all sky conditions; 1.25" filter allows high-contrast imaging even in areas with strong light pollution
  • The filter made from high-grade glass with dichroic interference and antireflection coatings;not only useful at light-polluted sites; the contrast is also increased at dark sky sites;it can be used with all 1.25" eyepieces
  • The O-III filter completely blocks virtually all other visible wavelengths of light so views of nebulas are optimized;increases contrast through selective filtration-Anti-reflection coated to prevent glaring and ghosting
  • Narrowband filter do not eliminate the effects of light pollution or increase the object’s brightness;in many cases, they increase the contrast between nebula and night sky, not brightening the nebula

Product Description

telescope filter

SV115 O-III telescope filter suitable for visual observation on most emission nebulae, planetary nebulae and supernova remnants. Bright nebulae such as the M42 Orion Nebula can be viewed more clearly using SV115 narrowband filter in conditions of severe light pollution.

telescope filter

Using narrowband filter can increases the contrast between nebulae and the night sky, rather than increasing the brightness of an object or removing the effects of light pollution.

telescope filter

18nm Narrowband OIII Filter

Narrowband OIII filter is designed for nebula observation allowing 18nm bandwidth of light centered on a wavelength of 500nm through, which corresponds to OIII emission lines, and reducing the transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light including mercury vapor, and both high and low pressure sodium vapor lights and the unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emission in our atmosphere (i.e. skyglow).

telescope filter

The SV115 narrowband filter can be used with a variety of accessories such as astronomical cameras, focus reducers and eyepieces to achieve good seeing in both clear and dark observation conditions.

telescope filter

Strong and Sturdy

Made of quality materials, the threads are strong and durable, not easy to loosen, and can be used for a long time.

telescope filter

Ouality Optical Glass

SV115 O-III filter made from high-grade glass with dichroic interference and antireflection coatings.

telescope filter

SV115 filter comes with a plastic case with high pressure EVA case lining, protect the filter from damage.

Exactly what I would expect for the price. I'm only a novice astronomer so I can't give a professional opinion. I can say that it does improve my view when star gazing and looking for Galaxies or Nebulas. Well worth the money spent

Some folks shy away from 1.25 oiii's but the key is exit pupil...on a lower power eyepiece this one is surprisingly good.

A well made filter that that really tones the light down in the light polluted skies. Excellent value.

I purchased both 1.25 and 2" filters for use on a 10" Meade. Both size filters make the image barely there as it darkens more than filters. The 2" at least is a little usable as it allows more light. I even used it to view the bright Jupiter and all it did was turn Jupiter a very dark blue.I do not recommend.

Nebulas really pop with this filter great for visual observing or imaging . Does a great job at filtering out light pollution also grab it on sale

I went from wondering if there was really an owl nebula there to being able to clearly define the nebula straight on in sub par skies. When using averted vision, I could occasionally make out the "eyes" in my 10" dob. Filter offers substantial improvement for cost.

The 2 inch Svbony UHC and OIII filters would tighten in the Orion Q70 eyepieces. I would guess the thread tolerances for both manufactures are at their limits in opposite directions. I did notice the threads on the Svbony 2" filters are shorter than the threads on Orion 2" filters I'll be returning the OIII filter, UHC is past the return date. The 1.25 Svbony filters work fine with the 1.25 Orion and ES eyepieces that is have.
